Grats Yue!

And yes, that was a heck of a song to edit to. I haven't seen mkid's track, but Yue's editing is really effin' tight for just 2 hours with that kind of track. But I guess that means that you WANTED TO BE NOSTROMO? :awesome:

Due to the hardcore nature of the song, Vinyl Scratch has been called upon.

On the other hand, slightly disappointed in that result, I liked Phan's video alot more. Then again, I won't complain, I previously thought judges should take the fact that we can't freely select the source more into consideration. Seems to me that that's what they did here, as Chii pretty much had a disadvantage here

I haven't seen either of the anime they used OR the original AMV the song is from, so I don't really know which "disadvantage" you mean, but I still think Chiikaboom did a better job. This is why there is more than one judge, not everyone will agree. Just because you disagree doesn't mean the judges were all having a pity-party for her based on source.

If the videos were being judged on "Oh, I feel bad for this editor for getting this combo" there'd be a shit ton more people still in the tournament.

Thanks JCD, I'm glad you liked it ;)

Well, I guess that just shows how hard it is to judge some of these matches. Subjectively, I still like mine more since I think it's better fitting visually; and I also thought my slower pace was better suited to the music. But both of those rely heavily on the spiffy footage in Unlimited Bladeworks, so I didn't have to do as much to the footage. Source Fit is a huge deal for me, and I don't think Maria+Holic fit as well. But in terms of Iron Chef, Chii really made it fit, so I think she's more deserving to win this.

When it comes to the source fit...I disagree >.>

In an IC like this, you have almost no control over what your source will be, beyond choosing 5 of them and hoping you get the one you think will be most versatile.

I would actually be really ticked off if I found out any type of source biasing was affecting the way these videos are judged.
If you get a source that fits better, yay for you. You're more than likely going to have an easier time editing because shit just syncs.
If you don't, then get ready for a fun time making it work.

That's all the sources really do. Make it easier or harder on the editor to make shit work. If the judges are watching these videos and saying things like "These two work better together, I vote for this video." or "I don't like this source, I don't think it works." then...

I'm dead serious when I say, I'm out. Because that is not something I would want to be apart of.

Hopefully, this isn't the case.
