I'm just a tad puzzled on two things. Does it have to be a known already created story or can we make up our own new one ? When you say it is not required to show the actual ending, do you mean it's possible we could just have the video only containing the afterstory and nothing b4 it ?

If the before story is obviously known, you don't have to show it. IF you feel like you want to show it in order to get your message across, you can show it.

For example, if you wanted to do something with Summer Wars:

You could start the AMV with them celebrating at the end with victory, and then start up a "new" story about Love Machine coming back for round 2.

Or picture Cyrus Virus. Know how Ileia did that thing with "tik tok" at the end? That's a perfect example to start up an "after story".

Or you don't have to. As long as we know it's an "After Story", then it's fine.

Actually this theme reminds me of what I think of 99% of anime endings
