EPISODE ONE

WATCH STREAMING IN FULL QUALITY AT AMVIRONCHEF.COM

Well here it is! At long last (and only 2-3 weeks after I meant to do it), episode 1 of the Online AMV Iron Chef Tournament v4.0 is here. The video above is essentially a compilation of all of the matches performed for IC4 between Wednesday, March 30th, 2011 and Thursday, April 7th, 2011. If you've made your way here not knowing WHAT AMV Iron Chef IS, to sum it up, two editors go up against each other in a 2-hour editing session. They each use a randomly pre-determined source (anime), and 20 minutes before their match begins, they are given a song to edit to, which was also randomly assigned to their match number. The competition is to see who can create the best video in a short amount of time, with little preparation.

I do have to say, I apologize for the audio quality during the live-action segments. I had originally hoped to shoot it using a more high-quality setup, but ended up having to use my iPhone. Boo.

Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy the episode! I am planning on having episode 2 up by this upcoming Sunday.

Oh thanks :) It was one of the pieces of that I did NOT lose when my big AE crash happened, since I was smart enough to save it in its own separate project file :o

These are gonna be great. I was super excited and have already seen most of these, but since my match I've barely watched any. (yeah thats how it is) Can't wait for the next episodes!

Wait, I know its 7am and I haven't slept, but was that really the video Alumnus sent? Whats the story there?

Hey, Brad. On the downloaded version, it seems that the audio starts to get out of sync with the video as the video goes on. By the time it got to my part, the timing was all kinds of off and kinda makes my part look like an idiot edited with no since of flow or timing. It may be something you might want to look into fixing. I can also speak for everyone else's parts as well. Audio desyncing as the video went on.

Seriously, I cringed at my part. I want to cry now. :(

ouch Brad...I don't want to note that out as I feel to be a "SOB" if I did but uhhh you made a little mistake in the information in Match 9 - it stood "Sword of Stranger" for Nya-chan production's Source >_<

I guess you were a bit in a rush :O :(
but still great job

Not everyone used the same framerate, and for whatever reason, you used 59.94fps.

Three ways around this:
    1. Everyone uses the same framerate
    2. Make a variable-framerate or file-linked mkv
    3. Use separate files joined with a playlist
Otherwise fps conversion is never perfect.
Although there might be more to it than that because for me, Brad's voice was a bit off at the end too, so IDK.

Still, nice job Brad. Very professional presentation

Yeah I really can't (or, don't feel like taking the time to) confirm the whole audio sync issue, as to whether its a progressive thing or if it's an issue with individual videos. I do agree that my end dialogue bit does seem to be off sync. So, I dunno. I'm gonna be doing the actual export a bit differently for episode 2 so that might help.

As far as the mistakes in the slates go, I assumed there'd be at least a few, considering there were 51 total. I'm not going to go back and re-export the whole thing. I will however make note of them in the description.
