How in the blood hell do you do this?

Post by kobuzero » Thu Mar 17, 2011 8:15 pm

Ok so I have been asking around on how to do some of these effects, a lot of which are in this particulare video but I'll only ask one for now, I have been making videos for almost 4 years now and i really want to get better.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IccJ12VjIw look for it at 0:48 and there are few other spots where this editor uses it ( she's one of my idols in video editing XD)

If anyone can explain to me how to do this i would be very grateful, ty for anyone who can help

It's masking - look it up on Google or YouTube, there are lots of tutorials to cover basics of masking for beginners.

Basically it cuts out the shape and changes the shape the cut whenever the shape moves.

kobuzero ask's: How in bloody-hell did they do this?
Video: ♥ Small Talk = Big Love @ YouTube ( really wish people would not make references to slop-artists' )

At the Photo Works Program:
To show that this is such an old trick, I've pulled-out Paint Shop Pro v3 from 1994.
JASC products were usually w a a a y ahead of their time; [ Photobie can do this in 1/100th the time! ]
Take Two Images and Compare them .. the results are as follows:
Image
take any image and increase its size by 3% and you have a shadow. [ paint it Black. ]

At the Video Editor:
now simply make Layer 01 transparent on the white colors, except the eyes. [ bottom left ]
now place the 3% larger out-line on layer 2. make it transparent too. [ bottom right ]
.. Lock these two images "as a group" and where-ever one goes, the other will follow.
o.k. .. now; all your moving backgrounds are on Layer 3 .. [ time it for 3 seconds. ]
o.k. .. .. have your first two layers slide from right-to-left in the same 3 seconds.

Save your 3 seconds to AVI:
your illusion of timing marks 0:46 to 0:49 in ♥ Small Talk = Big Love is now complete. :shark:

Post-it can you please just not reply to any topic asking for help? Truth be told you're just confusing people more by bringing ass backwards workflow's and outdated software into this.

I lost my voice but this video will get the point across.
