Problems Downloading Videos

Postby damangood » Sun Mar 13, 2011 2:38 pm

I was trying to download some of the AMV viewer's choice award videos and am having a couple issues. First, when I try to download "direct" the page is not found. When I download "local" and try to open the file, I get the error message "Error -2041: an invalid sample description was found in the movie..." What does this mean, and how can I get this file to work?

Thanks.

Can you give us some more details? Which file are you trying to play, and what program are you trying to play it with?

Let's see. The videos I tried to download were:

Code: Ecchi Aggressor
Shake THAT!!! Arczi
Attack Of The Otaku Chiikaboom
Festival of Life Cross/fade

I downloaded them all as mp4 (as that was the only option available) and tried to play them in quicktime. That was when I got that message.

Since you're using Quicktime, I assume you're on a Mac. Quicktime's default decoder for a number of video types is pretty broken. Try installing the Perian QT component and playing the videos again. You could also try using a different player, like VLC or MPlayer OSX Extended.

If you're on Windows, you should get the Combined Community Codec Pack and play the videos with the included Media Player Classic Homecinema.
