Masked? Transition Effect

Can anybody help me with this transition effect? i was thinking it was masking because it has such movement but i dont get how to bring out the scrible lines thingy!

The shape itself was done with a mask. The sketchy boarder around it looks like a type of fractal noise or noise track matte applied to a stroke which uses the mask path.

What software package are you using? As different programs have different methods of doing this.

aah i got both sony vegas and after effects but im more proficient with SV

I personally only know how to do this in After Effects so I hope that isn't a problem.

I'm busy right now but I'll post a quick guide later tonight.

.. nice job ^__^ .. I bought the AE just for "playing around" to see what
it could do that Vegas could not .. .. in answer to your question; "no - Vegas can not!" ^_^ THx
