The film gets pretty stupid after Mulan cleverly starts an avalanche that practically wipes out the entire Hun army. Right after that, Shang and the others find out that Mulan is really a woman and are beyond annoyed. Because of her deception, they turn their backs on her. Hey, dick-for-brains, this woman just wiped out the Huns. Give her a break, okay? To win their approval, however, Mulan pretty much has to do the same thing again, proving a point which I'm sure isn't lost on the women toiling in Disney's corporate headquarters: If you want to get anywhere, you'd better be ready to conquer some Huns. Twice. Nothing like a good legend to keep those uppity women from thinking a raise might be in order.

Instead of doing this little princess crap Disney just starts selling miniskirts and makeup to 6 year old girls. Bratz was a huge deal back when Disney was squeaky clean. If Disney sets the standard for whoring then everyone else will have to follow.

Goodbye, art.

I think the times has blown this a wee bit out of proportion...

Disney didn't say Tangled was the last one ever. It could just be the last one we see for a long time.

This is nothing new. Between "Atlantis" and "The Princess and the Frog" there was an 8 year gap of no movies with any kind of princess. The "Disney Princess" movie is a more modern notion (thanks to Disney making a whole franchise out of the idea) than in the company's early filmography. Most of the princess movies were created after "The Little Mermaid" than before it.

Princess Eilonwy was 4 years before Ariel
Maid Marian was 12 years before Princess Eilonwy
Aurora was 14 years before Maid Marian
Cinderella was 9 years before Aurora
and Snow White was 13 years before Cinderella

Personally I think they're running out of fairy tales to adapt. But again...not a huge deal. The majority of Disney films don't have a princess in them anyway. *needs moar Fantasia*

No fear. Pixar is working on their first "fairy tale" movie, "Brave". :awesome:

Disney is also really good at churning out repacks of its movies and direct-to-video tie-ins for decades after the initial thing is created. Nothing new doesn't mean they won't continue to monetize their existing franchises for the next 50 years as much as they have been already.

Naturally.

I really was just referring to the release of new additions to the princess lineup, which seemed to be what the first post was speaking of.

Sadly they bought Atlantis from FOX when FOX decided to can their animation staff (Titan AE didn't do too well in the theaters) :P so I hardly consider Atlantis to be a "Disney movie" as it is in name only. Still love it to pieces though :3

Elcalavero wrote:PS. Im glad Disney stopped their animated movies. They should focus on making the Pirates of the Caribbeans 4th movie a decent one// like its previous entries.

1. Disney isn't giving up on animation, they are giving up on princess/fairy tale movies for a while. I believe another Pooh movie is in the works. They are doing this because Princess and the Frog didn't go over too well and was muddled in controversy. (The first black princess...)

2. Pirates was an awesome movie that had a couple of pretty good sequels, but really that franchise only lives because Johnny Depp keeps coming back. I think it needs to end already, imho, before it goes bad.

Actually Disney has canned that entire staff, and no more shitty Disney direct-to-dvd sequels are going to be made either :P

That's actually good news since it was the Disney money whoring with shit like Bambi Part XIII: Bambi Takes Manhattan that turned Disney flicks from 'usually worth watching' to 'barely worth being aware they've been released'.

Wait... so they decided they had enough money? That crap was a gold mine - little kids don't care if it's good, they can't tell the difference. They point to the characters and scream "want." Those DVDs sell.

Did they say they won't be doing the "limited" re-release of every movie on a 5-year rotating basis in the format of the day too?

(The first black princess...)

America has got to have the mental age of about 6 years old if that was actually a point of discussion around this movie.

Pathetic.

That movie couldn't do ANYTHING right to satisfy the PC Police.

they are still doing "the vault" thing as far as I know... Maybe the complaints of shitty sequels finally reached them? either that or maybe they just weren't selling as well with the reinvented ponies, barbie, carebears and strawberry shortcake also on the market.
