This is your new Katsucon AMV department head speaking (yup, you read that correctly).
Yeah, I was passed the torch this weekend.
The show this year was quite good as a lot of tough choices had to be made.
This includes TWO tiebreakers by audience response!
In my opinion there were a few surprises but nothing earth-shattering.
That is to say except for one thing which I'll get to a bit later.

Allow this to be my first action in the new position.

* The thing I was gonna mention before: I was informed there were 15 Best in Show write-in votes for my comedy category bumper (this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dma1oL8W4nE). The only difference is the titles read "Katsucon 2011 Comedy AMVs" instead of "Godot Special Roast #72." Weird/

Those of you who weren't present to collect your awards will have them shipped to you within the next two weeks. I must speak with Katsucon treasury about what's in the department budget for shipping expenses. I'll keep you all updated.

For a first-year contest it went over like it's been around for five.
I only have titles but I'm sure the detailed results will be posted shortly after Toni (Crona) gets home.
I can tell you the winner left the rest of the pack shattered in the vote count.
Like they got well over 100 and the others in single-digits.

First place became a lock when we realized "Me" had half the votes with more on the way.
The race for second was more interesting.
Just don't be discouraged.
It's been a tough year for comedy all around, sad to say.
You had balls enough to put something out there when others won't and you did make the finals, after all, which is more than the majority of editors ever get.
I thought 2008 would be my year when I brought out "Me Wuvs You" and "Go Ask Haruhi."
The novelty of being runner-up wore off after the third time so yeah, I know where you're coming from.
Keep at it and never stop learning new things about this medium of fan art.

I'm off to a good start this year, I won a contest for the very first time and got runner up in another!
