Welcome to the Org!

"Best" is subjective, what may be the best for one person might not be the best for you.
The editing programs most people here use are Adobe Premiere Pro, Sony Vegas and Magix Movie Edit (and Windows Movie Maker...but I'd wager you're looking for something else). There are more (see this sticky in general video for a more comprehensive list), but those 3 are the main ones.

I'd suggest that you go and get the trial versions of those programs and play around with them a bit to see which one works best for you.

any video editor will get the job done.

. normally, whichever one you choose first AND play-with-the-most
ends-up-being the one you like the most.

. . you should not need a Graphics program that is very expensive
to "go-along-with-your-video-editor" because today, "most Video Editors ARE Graphic Editors"
unless you do not know what "channels" and "layers" are used for!

. . . besides, they're all pretty-much the same anways 8-)

. What you might need is a Video Conversion Program -- to make the files accessible to your editor.

Well i use Cinema 4D Conbined with after effects cs5 = Some amazing effects i also use premiere pro cs5 and vegas 10 pro but in my opinion Affter erffects is way better than any other editing software also you have Nuke and Avid Media Composer i have them and they are harder to use.

.. interesting little one here; CyberLinks - PowerDirector Ultra

I've kicked this one around, a bit, and I'm becoming impressed with
what it can do!! It's about $29.95 in stores and well worth it for a
beginner thru intermediate editor.

.. Known problems:
DVD builders interface instructions 'Suck! :x

.. overall .. this win's as a New Editor Company for the 2K Software Finals    :!: :!:

Doesn't matter, as long as it's frame accurate, non-linear, and plays nice with the UTvideo format. (note: last I checked, WMM fails on the first two).

I still use Magix most of the time.

To tell you the turth all editing programs are the same. But if what you meant was which one has more features then Avid media composer 5 its around 2500$ and is used on the cinema industry really powerfull tool if you ask me its beyond sony vegas, premiere pro and final cut. Also you coould get autodesk smoke which is the one i use but well lets just say that is around 8k. and i dont think they sell it to a reguar person. you have to work for a studio or well that's what they told me since i got it from my studios.
