Is it wrong to associate dance with art? Can dance not be dramatic or artistic?Dr.Dinosaur wrote:IT IS the Ballet!CodeZTM wrote:Something extremely dramatic and artsy [read:dance]

I don't think the issue is can dance be artistic, but rather why does the inclusion of a specific type of dance automatically make something more artistic than videos without it?CodeZTM wrote:Is it wrong to associate dance with art? Can dance not be dramatic or artistic?
Ballet doesn't necessarily mean auto art. Had the song and mood been set to a rapping video [with the same scenes and no alterations], and there not been appropriate editing and just footage slapped on a timeline, it wouldn't have had the same artistic impact. The editing, the music, the scenes and everything combined together to make it what it was. That being said, had it used breakdancing music and used something from breakdancing videos, it would still be art, just not the same art you'd associate with this video. There's naturally more than one form of art.godix wrote:I don't think the issue is can dance be artistic, but rather why does the inclusion of a specific type of dance automatically make something more artistic than videos without it?CodeZTM wrote:Is it wrong to associate dance with art? Perhaps you could explain what you mean.BasharOfTheAges wrote:See, I took that whole post of FC's as tongue-in-cheek. Subtle implied sarcasm... was that wrong?
Well no I agree, but that's because the video would have been poorly made. I mean if it had been a rapping video and put together well would it still be the same kind of "art" you see in this video?CodeZTM wrote:Had the song and mood been set to a rapping video [with the same scenes and no alterations], and there not been appropriate editing and just footage slapped on a timeline, it wouldn't have had the same artistic impact.
A silent "amirite?" after the "IT IS the Ballet!" basically.Dr.Dinosaur wrote:Perhaps you could explain what you mean.BasharOfTheAges wrote:See, I took that whole post of FC's as tongue-in-cheek. Subtle implied sarcasm... was that wrong?
How exactly did you interpret what I wrote?
