Actually, believe it or not, we are. Have you watched grave of fireflies? Heard the racist yet ignorant statements of Mr Oni on this thread?
It's all about war and how ridiculous we all know it is.

Wykith wrote:Are you people even aware that the United States has lost EVERY war since 1942? The evil empire has great propaganda but terrible results. Mr Oni, as far as politics go, you are doing nothing but contradicting yourself left and right. You have tidbits of information here and there but no solid facts. I can't believe you would claim that WWII was "justice". I hate to say it but in this way, Sept. 11 was "justice" as well. "Justice" for the U.S's reproachable foreign policies. So if the score had already been settled, Afganistan was no longer "justice" but "murder".

my Uncle Served in the war (and thankfully he survived, my other 3 uncles who i never knew didn't) my parents lived through the post war Japan which really did mess up the country.
i'm keeping this short, not about to give a history lesson

The US was in Vietnam and Korea to help "defend" the nation against communist occupation (realise though, that this defense was given despite many citizens not wanting it). Dessert Storm was the removal of Iraqi armed forces from their occupation of Saudi Arabia.Wykith wrote:I can't believe you would claim that WWII was "justice". When you stated that, what were you refering to as not believing WWII was "justice"? The US was "neutral" when it came to WWII until the bombing of Pearl Harbor by Japan. The anniversary for that was just 5 days ago, Dec. 7th for those who didn't pay attention in history class. For the US, the Japanese did start the war. The US entered the war as retaliation and with the insight that the "Axis of Evil" did not intend to stop at anything short of world power.
Was the total retaliation of the US against the countries that started the war by attacking and conquering other countries not justice? Was using the full extent of the fighting ability available to the US not justified in the fight against an attempt by the "Axis of Evil" for world power? Was it not justice for the 5.1 Million victims of the Holocaust, 2.5 Million non-jewish polish, 7 Million Russions (all civilians)? 400,000 German citizens were killed in the bombing of Dresden and more people were killed in the Nanking Massacre's than both the Hiroshima and the Nagasaki atomic bombs killed (both instantly and over time due to radiation) combined. So I can hardly see how the US dropping "the bomb" is one of the most reprehensible acts of WWII.
Oh, and none of that is "propaganda" from the "evil empire", pure and straight up facts collected from multiple sources including but not exclusive to:
R.J. Rummel Professor Emeritus, Political Science, University of Hawaii
Dr. S. D. Stein, University of West England
District Court of Nanking
Kinder, The Anchor Atlas of World History
The Nuremberg Indictment
Gutman, Encyclopedia of the Holocaust
And to which "reproachable foreign policies" of the US were you refering, I want to know what warrants suicide attacks, and the destruction of skyscrapers? Is the US really that Evil, worse in it's politics than any other major power (China, Russia, Britain, India, Korea)? And if so, please give specific examples backed by fact, not your opinion .
The amazing thing about america is we don't hide our shame, or pretend things never happened, we openly view it and attempt not to make the same mistakes. If you disagree just think about all of the civil war movies, To Kill a Mokingbird, Movies about the loss and senslessness of WW I and II and the multitudes of TV shows that depicted US soldiers and their Enemy stranded together and actually living with each other rather than portraying the enemy as savages.
Wykith: WWII didn't end until 1945.Wykith wrote:I can't believe you would claim that WWII was "justice". I hate to say it but in this way, Sept. 11 was "justice" as well....

You shouldn't make blanket statements about "propaganda" and should read up on your world history a bit more before making judgments/comparisons between historical events. That comment relating Sep. 11th and WWII was way off.
Mr. Oni: quit being so rude
Uncle Milo: Don't hate, you could have prevented an argument about world history if you hadn't replied to Mr. Oni's post. He wasn't even that rude in his first post, but you let arguments that you have had with him before influence you.
CaT: At least you brought some reasonable discussion in.
Timeless: One of the few to get anything right about History, and you admit that you would have to look some things up to be 100% certain of your statements
KenShimazu: I'm sorry for some things that other people said that were rude, and sorry for the tidbits of History that I decided to post, but after some of Wykith's comments I had to post some factual information. And I commend you for your selfcontrol
KenShimazu wrote:Although i have no problems with my friends or aquantences calling me "Jap" i find your usage of the statement within your post highly racial, and offensive.

and finally
Aether: You kept an un-biased view on most of this, and were rather reasonable. I commend you for maintaining an un-objectified view.
Two things though, the POW's that the US held were treated much, much, better than any of the POW's in Germany or Japan (though it sure as hell wasn't a nice stay, 50,000 German POW's died in American prison camps) and insulting doesn't help an argument, even if Mr. Oni overstepped the boundry of discussion into argument at some points (other people did too).
And now back to the topic.
I have never seen the movie grave of the fireflies, but from what MJ did with it in his AMV I can see that it is a very emotionally strong movie. I almost cried just watching the AMV. I would definently like to see it sometime.

Yes they did after we left the country. The first time we forced the north to the peace table they laughed at us and we gave in the second time was nixons gem a little operation called "Rolling thunder" We smashed them to pieces and back to the tables they came. Then they started messing up again so we started "rolling thunder 2" which once again sent them back to the peace tables. We got out and then they found another reason to attack south vietnam should never trust a bunch of commies. If we had still been in the war. the north would have capitulated because they didn't have the resources to win and Russia and china weren't supplying any more weapons.
