Aha... Now this is quite interesting. Well, huge Technical Death Metal fan over 'ere.

Likes: Decapitated [greatest band ever], Necrophagist, Cannibal Corpse, Nile, Dying Fetus, Vesania, Psycroptic, etc. However, death metal isn't a very editor-friendly musical genre. Busy experimenting with Cryptopsy's "Worship Your Demons" at the moment, but... urgh. The chaotic "harmony" of the instruments have their beauitful moments, but they lose their impact reasonably easily - especially when viewed/eared by a non-headbanger. So from an editor's perspective, it's a nightmare. [This is why I resorted to Nu Metal for my first vid...][And don't expect Death Metal for my second. I'm using Muse. ][The Cryptopsy one might be my third.]

Anyhow, serious headbangin' to the Power Metal guys and the Bards. [Blind Guardian fan too.]

Und!! Does anyone know of any worthy death metal AMVs around??? I've been searching, but--in the name of all things beautiful & ugly--the vids I found were rather... yeah - between "so-so" and "please, shoot me".

I've definitely found this to be the case. It is wicked difficult to establish what this audience regards as synch when the drums and the rhythm guitar (and occasionally the bass) are doing substantially independent things. If you try to "synch to the beat" like the CW here says you should, you're going to either kill yourself or produce something absolutely unwatchable the first time you come up against a blastbeat.

I'd suggest some of my own work in response to this, but it's likely that you've probably already seen and thumbs-downed it. Sundown in Caesarea - eatdrinkbleedvomit and Knee Deep In Disease are the only real death metal videos I've done in the last five years, and the second one, which you're more likely to have missed, is a little slammier than the bands you've mentioned.

hth,

Great...so there actually is an amv to one of my favourite Morbid Angel songs and the link is down? Bummer.

I didn't know the band you used for the second one, but it sounded like some real sweet slam death..I guess I'll check that band out one of those times. Cool Video also..it amused me there actually was a funnily fitting anime for this kind of music. Nice editing as well, I personally never really imagined editing to death metal as I always imagined it to be totally akward. And this video was..but it actually worked.

godfuckingdammit. Link's back up, and here for those not wanting to click through.

Is there still an option to report link bugs? There used to be, but apparently there isn't anymore. Fuck.

Parasitic are cool dudes; they're on Sevared, so you may have difficulty finding their material physically, but Casketless has of course been internetripoffed into the usual channels.

Damn that video actually found a way into my favourites. It suits the mood of the song perfectly and I'm a fan of old school editing anyway

Btw, I actually once edited to Cock and Ball Torture's "Spank Me, Fuck Me, Fill Me" for Hot Coffee 2008. It's technically not death metal, but porngrind...but it's at least the same direction. It's 18+ though as I used a hentai source, but if you're still interested, you can get it here.

Oh, I almost forgot:

I'd like to point out a music video from one of my favourite local slam death bands: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z65j7d_4zL8

It's not an amv, but still a technically well done music video, even from an editor's perspective. (You can actually see me here and there in the video as I was at the gig the live shots are taken from :ying: )

Good shit.

And because this thread has now been taken over by slam, here is most of the last TYAG lineup screwing around at 3 in the morning to produce what would become the signature Composted song.

I have to admit that I enjoyed both vids tremendously. But out of the two, Sundown in Caesarea - eatdrinkbleedvomit immediately became a favourite. You won't believe how relieved I felt watching a death metal AMV that didn't completely suck. Und some of those scenes were absolutely epic - especially the sweet & solid double bass riffs armed with rather static imagery und a slight sense of movement [like the falling rain; a slight panning camera; some floating clouds; etc.]. They're visibly and audibly soooo brutal.

Furthermore, I seriously need to get my hands on the anime - seems like a good watch.
