Post by Otozureru » Tue Oct 05, 2010 1:05 pm

Spoiler :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULnS0IU4b1k
Isis, ishtar, hecate, kali
Isis, ishtar, hecate, kali
Isis, ishtar, hecate, kali
Isis, ishtar, hecate, come to me...

I'm sharpening my halo
Into forest horns

I've sanctifying pages
In the protocols of war

I've abolished your mythology
& vanquished all your gods

I've liberated your women
& eradicated your laws

I put books in the temple
To annihilate the lie

I broke the bones of Kronos
To restore what was mine

Made of flame
Made of mud
I'm the many
I'm the one

All the children sing along
Thank god for the atom bomb
...thank god for the atom bomb

Isis, ishtar, hecate, kali

I've got a splinter in my finger
From carrying the cross

I sleep on sheets of sulphur
& dream of all we've lost

I travel iron oceans
Singing sinful songs

To hypnotize & defy
Sex-starved lonely gods

I'm the woman clothed with the sun
The moon beneath my feet

I'm the silver spear of athena
The tongue of kali

Made of flame
Made of mud
I'm the many
I'm the one

All the children sing along
Thank god for the atom bomb
...thank god for the atom bomb

Demon
Daughter
Monster
Whore

Obey
Good little slave

Better behave & watch the words you say
Ownership laws apply
You can break my bones with jagged stones
But I will never comply

Impotent breeder
Flaccid leader

Earth & snakes
Fires & quakes

What once was lost
Will be replaced

All that was
All that is
All that will ever be

Shed the veil
Shed the veil
Unveiled

In general, it seems like it's an anti-religious song. It seems to be about a person who seems to fight against religions and the "sheeps" who follow these without questioning (hence the atom-bomb line) and won't give up no matter how hard (s)he has to fight.

Ancient, pagan godesses are mentioned:

Isis = Egyptian
Ishtar = Babylonian
Hecate = Greek
Kali = Hindu

It is not quite obvious from which point of view it is told..maybe christian? Considering it seems like all these religions which have more than one good seem to be taken over by a "new" and "only" god.
Contradictory to this is the first part:
"I'm sharpening my halo
Into forest horns"

Considering halo's come from christian religion and this line basically could be read as the turning of christianity back into something pagan (forest horns).

Actually, thinking about it...the song could also be connected with women rights. In ancient cultures, women were often worth less than men...

"I've liberated your women"
"Sex-starved lonely gods"
"Impotent breeder
Flaccid leader"
"I'm the silver spear of athena"

That may actually be closer to the real meaning than a general "anti-religion" thing. And obviously it's from a woman's point of view (not only because the singer is female) : "I'm the woman clothed with the sun

Maybe the turning halo into forest horns thing could also be seen as the soft, lovely thing a female is (halo) turning into a strong fighter (which would be resembled by the forest horns) that used to be considered male.

Also as she mentions godesses (female!) with the line "come to me" could be meant
as the ancient godesses backing her up in the fight against the male gods.

And now looking at the following line:

I broke the bones of Kronos
To restore what was mine

(Kronos = Male)

Makes me pretty sure it's a women's fight against opression by men.

And I'm pretty sure it's from a christian point of view, as many christians don't believe in a gender of their god.
Also:
I've got a splinter in my finger
From carrying the cross
