That is really, really terrible - an early loss of someone who was truly an artist among anime directors. I was in the middle of working on a Millenium Actress video, too, so I suppose at this point I'll really have to finish it...

...

I'm shocked. And extremely depressed. ;.;

I think I'll have a Satoshi Kon-directed movie marathon now, :cry:

It's a sad loss, and he was so young.

One of the first anime films I ever watched was Perfect Blue and it remains one of favorites and even remains a constant inspiration for me.

Because of your influence, the human imagination is forever a little more stretched. You brought us suspense, tears and laughter in your work.

Thank you Satoshi Kon, for all the emotions.

A great director taken from us way too early.

I second this, except for me I'd have to substitute Millenium Actress as the movie (first one of his I'd seen). I'm still really sad.

Tokyo Shimbun (japanese link here: http://www.tokyo-np.co.jp/s/article/201 ... 00509.html) has reported that the cause of Kon's death was pancreatic cancer. :(

It's hard to believe he's gone forever. What a waste. I was so looking forward to his future works.
