Converting .avi to .mov

Post by SharinganCopyNinja » Thu Aug 12, 2010 3:23 pm

Hi, I'm new to the boards. Joined because I especially need help. Trying to make my first AMV and I [Kariudo: Didn't use the dvds :uhoh:] and they are .avi files and I'm on a mac, so I need to know how or what to use to convert them to .mov or whatever else Quicktime and Final Cut pro movie maker uses. I'd greatly appreciate any information you can give me as I am completely lost. Thanks!! :D

This will help you if you are on a newer Mac with an Intel processor, or this will help if you're on an older PPC Mac/are just too lazy to do the longer method.

You should, however, use DVD (or even BluRay now) footage whenever available, as nine times out of ten you'll get better quality footage. :amv:

And feel free to ask if you need help with any part in those guides. :D

MAC is a cosmetics brand. Mac is the superior computing platform. It's not an acronym.

Shoot yourself in the face, then go to cdjapan.co.jp and buy the R2j's, rip, complain about quality and how things used to be better, learn to use YATTA and do some sugoi pro IVTC and filtering then realise you did all that work for an amv using horrible mp3 audio. Finally, make your amv entirely in avisynth like a pro and laugh at everyone who can't make avs work properly in Adobe/Vegas. I guess it helps to be a bitter old man too.
