To be honest... I've only noticed elitism on very few occasions since I've been here, and usually it all happens at the same time at the VCA's. And everyone knows its all Russians Europeans a-m-v.org forum user non-org forum voters Americans Candians everyone's fault that it happens.

I do agree that we need a friendlier place for them to introduce themselves [Yes. I know. Lurking is great. I encourage lurking. I am the advocate of lurking. I AM LURKING behind you. You've mentioned this already. Still, how many of us have posted stupid shit when we first got here, and how many of us would have liked a little help getting used to everything and having a place where we can get questions answered?]

If a newcomer comes into the forum with the "I'd like to know how to improve", then they're more likely to get responses from people. It's also important to remember to take the responses well, and not go batshit insane when somebody says there's interlacing in your video or that black fades me make cry. O_o

It's kind of like the rules of the internet, and not just a-m-v.org. You post something useful, you get a useful comment back. If you're polite, you'll be treated [usually] with politeness back. You post insulting shit, you get insulting shit back. Results may vary. :bzz2:

Unintentional? It takes effort to be this much of a jerk. In fact I'm the best jerk ever! But do you guys care? Nooo. You just dismissing all the hard work I put into this. Oh wah. It isn't perfect quality because I'm not a fucking perfectionist. I'm SO sorry. Next time I'll just scrap all text and let you guess WTF was going on. You guys take this hobby too seriously. My normal followers on youtube LAUGH at this. I don't want that reaction, I want people to be angry or sad. By the way, since I just copied and pasted half a dozen of his statements, then quickly corrected some of the mistakes, from his announcement thread, I now have even *MORE* respect for the poor editor of the OP

Exactly. I think a problem is that being an anime editor is such a niche hobby that people expect to be instantly accepted regardless of their attitude.

We have a winner!

For bonus points you can try to quell a rant @ cosplay.com about the follies of spending hundreds of hours and hundreds of dollars in the name of super-accuracy when you're the wrong body type or skin color, or the people @ fanfiction.net about mary-sues.

You are not your video, just because someone says something bad about your video that doesn't mean they are attacking you personally. (General statement - it seems sometimes people forget this.)

Then how come everytime i make something thats negative..someone has to go "IS THIS BECAUSE OF HEART WARMING?" :awesome:

Its stupid. It really is. I made a bad vid. We ALL have them.

Again, please read and comment on what your thoughts are. I would be very greatful :)

Did you not realize that the journal system was public? If you didn't want this to be aired public-ally to the org or didn't want people to discuss it then why did you post it and ask for comments?

Alright. i wanted people to read my rant. its true. But i didnt want it to be edited and reviewed without my permission. That was just rude. He could have asked me. I would have let him post it probably, although perhaps in a more polite manner.

The only reason why you feel like you are being attacked personally is because you blew up when I gave you my crit, and then everything was then directed toward you instead of the video.
And when did you make something "negative" since that video? On the org, no one has said anything like that.

What do you mean "make something that's negative"? you mean like the rant?

I equated your writing to that video's announcement because of the way the thread played out pretty much mirrored the attitude of the rant. You acted as though you were being personally attacked when people pointed out flaws in your video, and that is very reflective of some of the statements you made.

Yes people make bad videos all the time, that is not what got the attention placed on your thread though. Your reaction to negative feedback was what got everyone interested in reading your thread and wanting to make their own comments. (Sometimes people think: "It can't be as bad as they are saying" then watch it and feel the need to throw in their two cents.)

If instead of acting though as you were being personally attacked you could have asked questions as to why people thought the things they did, or ask them to elaborate that way they would give you the constructive side of their criticism.

I can't speak for others, but I'm sure some have had the same experiences as me. I've been annoyed by leaving people long elaborate opinions at times, that it's just easier to be short and to the point. It's annoying to take your time to write out a long detailed opinion only to have it ignored or thrown back in your face with an "I'm not perfect!!!"

So the way I handle it is that I point out maybe the one thing I think could use the most work, and see if the person wishes me to elaborate on it. If they do, then I give them more info (including ways of fixing the problems). If they throw a fit and yell and scream or ignore me I usually find it's not worth my time to even bother giving them anymore info.

After seeing your thread, I figured I wouldn't add to the chaos, and really you didn't seem open to learning so commenting didn't seem worth my time. No one is expecting you to be perfect. In fact I bet most people would rather see you improve that way there's less crappy amvs out there and more good ones.
