Favorite Anime OST CD?

Postby Garylisk » Tue Dec 10, 2002 9:04 pm

Hopefully some of you are big losers like me and collect Anime OSTs.
Out of all the CD's you've got, which OST do you like the best?

Currently, and for a long time, I've liked "Kodomo no Omocha Best Collection" the best out of all my anime OSTs.
However, I also like "Trigun: Second Donuts" a lot. "Unhappy Song" is AWESOME :)

I haven't bought one yet, but I was planning to. Do I really need to say this?

Yup-yup. Those are currently my extra-fave faves.

I'm also partial to the Giant Robo and Bubblegum Crisis soundtracks.

But for old-school charm, I put in the Megazone 23 II song collection. "Lonely Sunset" is darn good.

Let's not forget FLCL, Noir, and Hellsing. 3 of the best OST's, period. Read or Die has a kick ass OST too.

I crave the Hellsing OSTs...

The OSTs I have are few. Both FLCL's, both Trigun's, all four Cowboy Bebops, and the Tenchi Muyo in Love (Tenchi the Movie) OST.

Out of those, I'd have to say that I can't choose. Trigun's soundtrack is very diverse and I can find anything to fit any mood, From Unhappy Song to Kaze wa Mirai ni Fuku to Sound Life to Fool's Paradise to Colorless Sky. Cowboy Bebop's OST can always get a reaction out of me, whether it's the ultra-smooth extra-long rendition of Tank, the melodic beauty of Adieu, the raw power of The Real Folk Blues and Blue, or the addictive qualities inherent in Chicken Bone. FLCL's OST has music by the Pillows, and I have yet to find a Pillow's song I don't love. Hybrid Rainbow's powerful vocals, the raw energy of Advice, the pure catchiness of Blues Drive Monster, or the beauty that is Beautiful Morning With You. The arrangement in the Tenchi Movie OST is beautiful and the music is so flowing and melodic. I haven't lkistened to it as much, so I don't have any specific examples, but it is a very nice Soundtrack I assure you, if you like slow instrumentals.

If I had to choose, probably FLCL. But only if.

Yeah, the Tenchi Muyo in Love soundtrack was done by Christopher Franke, who also did the music for Babylon 5. (Among other things)

Yeah, FLCL has a great soundtrack, I like listening to it sometimes. :)

This also reminds me...
I have both Hellsing OSTs that I knew of anyway... and there's one musical piece that isn't on there that I really wanted.

If you have Hellsing DVD/fansub for episode 1 handy, start it up and fast forward to the first scene where Alucard and Celes meet. There is a slow piano driven song playing, and it also has some sweeping drumps in the background.. a very mellow piece of music, and I always wanted to hear an extended version of it.. or any version at all. Anyone know the title of that song? Where it can be found? At all?

I don't think it can. I for one was disapointed that the song that plays in episode 3 when Alexander first showed up wasn't on either soundtrack. I want that song very much badly.
