http://www.animemusicvideos.org/forum/v ... 3&t=100601

not a lamv, and it's coupled with an AMV, but it made me think of a lamv subforum.
i could imagine people (at least those that frequent the announcements forum) using the same format that ileia did. and hey, if it's allowed in that format, then i may just wait to release LAMVs until i announce an AMV so that i can just post a double release and get some opinions from Org goers on lamv stuff.
I know that the non-amv was used in an Org hosted contest, but still~

not trying to narc on ileia or anything just making an observation.

Not really a narc when it's something that has been viewed as acceptable for years, as long as you release an AMV in tandem. But sometimes people don't /have/ an AMV to release with it, which is why it isn't seen as often, especially recently. (which is also probably why you haven't seen it before).....aaaand that's where the LAMV subforum comes in. :P

Because some of us rarely make amvs anymore or make enough that we have more lamvs than regular amvs, and would like a place to release those solely? I didn't think this was very hard to understand :?

If you make more LAMVs than AMVs it feels more like it's a LAMVer doing AMVs than an AMVer doing LAMVs. So it wouldn't really be an AMVer's LAMVs section anymore and it'd end up being filled by just LAMVers in no time. Who knows, we might end up getting people registering just to visit and post videos in that one section. That isn't something we should encourage. Instead, we should try to keep the focus of the site and forum AMVs and what constitutes them, not drag it away from them.

I don't see how this would bring out people from outside the community. As people have mentioned, this is a board with posts by other AMV editors for other AMV editors. Case in point: the live action topic that's 33 pages. I doubt there's a post there from someone who's not involved with the community.

If we really want to keep people out, simply put it in the donator's section. Or you could set the board to appear only to those with registered accounts (or with x number of posts)

There's a difference between just a topic and a whole section. And even now, Turbo's posts about the various CreaSpace contests could be really considered borderline, if you check (not that I'm going to remove them nor anything, it's still a controlled and tame thing, for the time being).

Also, doesn't take much to register and make a few posts. In fact, I believe we have at least a few registered users that don't really edit at all but are quite active in the community. And what would be the point in putting it in the donator's section, since in the donator's forum people can already make topics to announce their Live Action MVs regardless (and have already done so in a couple occasions)?

i think that's a good idea actually, as long as it's relatively high (not outrageous but to the point where they have to be part of the community to achieve it)
at first it seems fair to amv-beginners that wanna announce lamvs, but i don't think it's a huge issue. Might encourage them to get more experience/be more a part of the community.

also, with a post limit in effect, it'll discourage all the rule-breaking noobs from...well, breaking the rules as it'll take a lot more work than just registering.

Even if they don't edit amvs, if they come here and have made the amount of posts required to get into the lamv subforum, then they'll be one of us pretty much, and then it'd be a nice way to get to know other parts of the editing community as a whole. get a little lamv perspective on some of the amvs (might or might not be a good thing but it sounds cool)

i'm sure that there will hardly be any non-amvers going through the work to do it though so there probably won't be an overpopulation of lamvers.

I'm not sure how you're defining "involved with the community", but at least a few of those live action editors (Khameleon808 and MisterAnderson are the only names I can think of offhand, since I actually pay attention to their videos) either don't make AMVs or have only made one or two.

I agree with Mirkosp. If you're making more LAMVs than AMVs, you're a LAMVer.
lynit wrote:I don't see how this would bring out people from outside the community.
Simple. Someone could type in the name of a movie they liked on Google, Yahoo, YouTube, etc. and get a link or video that directs them to this site.

However...
lynit wrote:If we really want to keep people out, simply put it in the donator's section.
That would solve the problem. But according to Mirkosp, donators can and already have made topics announcing their LAMVs.

I think we can all agree that most people everyone who joined this site joined looking for AMVs or for some sort of involvement in the AMV community. Bringing in LAMVs would only take away from the original purpose of the creation of this site.
