Not much going on for me: http://anime-expo10.sched.org/CastorTroy3G

Anyone got any suggestions?

I probably won't make Mega64 due to the AMV Iron Chef.

Clearly the AMV community needs more representation on the "who's interested tracker" for these programming events:

JAST USA Bishoujo Games Panel (18+) http://anime-expo10.sched.org/event/cb7 ... 6f09517932
The Now and Future of Bishoujo Games http://anime-expo10.sched.org/event/ead ... 5da3fb5d92
AKB48 Concert http://anime-expo10.sched.org/event/bb9 ... 4dc53da405

Good Luck! =p

The opening video was <3

I really enjoyed the contest this year. Senjogohara in Action was lulzier than Deathnote Rhapsody in Comedy was, but at least DP aknowledged that right away. Comedy was really strong this year, pro was pretty awesome too. Cant wait until saturday~

Comedy? Take your pick.

AMVTV Pro- Hagaren or Tearx

IMO of course.

Thanks to everyone who put their time into this contest. =D (it isn't over yet though xD)

-Still confused on how my two LETTER BOXED videos... were cropped and stretched out..really made the quality bad... ~_~
-The turn out for some categories were very weak, hmm I was pleased with action though
Edit: pleased with action category..excluding one video.. >>

Woo what a contest.

Troy, that Hitler lead in to the contest was brilliant. Rider, excellent AMV in Drama and "We Love The Anime World", also very nice to meet you in person. Michael, you have my sympathy on the ballot malfunction and the DVD issues with the preshow, and if you do happen to get stuck bagging badges next year, my sympathy for that too.

As for the videos in the contest themselves; HELLS YES One of my videos was in the Pre-Show! The comedy I loved out of all my entries did see the light of day and managed to get a few good laughs. I owe whoever organized that some grub. And man is "R0bot$" getting some major love or what? Definately deserves it; was my choice in the 2009 ballot. Drama was pretty diverse this year, Loved “Girl Please” (was a little bit of everything), “Under There” (one of my favorite shows I've never watched), and “Alchium" ( 'Al' 'chum', I get it).

Was a little confused to see a 6 year old, nonstop megamix AMV in the Action category, but I don't remember seeing an age restriction in the rules, so fair's fair. "Building Steam", wow, everything just clicked so well and it looks like one of those AMV's you can watch over and over again; that's a keeper. And that One Piece AMV was ... ?

Comedy.
KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN AND A PIZZA HUT.
That is all.

(no really, “An Alchemist Named Sue”, “Fad Of Princely Caliber”, and “And Now A Word From Our Sponsors” were all tops. Kinda got tired of “Hello Fairy” after a while, but I'm guilty of the same crime so I guess shame on me.)

Can't wait for Saturday, looks like this could be anyone's contest.

Glad you enjoyed it. I'll try to make something again for next year. It'll be hard to top that though. :)

So how many of you were fooled by the fake Dead Fantasy vid?

Oh, and epic kudos to anyone who can tell what Anime shows i used (except Eva).

Awards won't be announced till tomorrow, but here's my (brutally) honest review of the contest.

I didn't make the pre-show, but it was good to see that some people did, but however, why was there a video with the FUNimation watermark and subtitles in there? Was it leftover from last year's contest? Why the hell did it even get in? :nono:

First of all, I have to give props to Xstylus' intro video. That literally summed up most people's feelings on what happened this year.

As for the contest itself, it was one of the strongest contests in recent years, miles above 2008's and light year's beyond 2009's (I didn't see 2009's, but I heard it was awful), except one fuckup that literally made me go into Super Saiyan NERDRAGE.

Drama was good for the most part. I still have to applaud AX's decisions for letting in drama videos that don't make me want to slit my wrists. Although I gotta admit that kitsuner's video was probably more suited towards AMTV.

Action started off great. I really liked Nighthawk's video which was a great way to set the standard for the action category. However, the biggest fuckup that happened was A BADLY EDITED DRAMA VIDEO WAS IN ACTION. WHY? WHAT.THE.FUCK? WHERE ARE THE EXPLOSIONS? WHERE ARE THE PEOPLE PUNCHING EACH OTHER? I couldn't hold back my NERDRAGE upon seeing this.

         :uhoh: :uhoh: :uhoh: :uhoh: :bzz: :bzz: :bzz2: :bzz: :pizza:

Ok, I'm cool now. But other than that, most of the videos were pretty decent, although some were a bit lacking. However, the drama category was much stronger.

Comedy was the strongest category this year, in fact, the strongest comedy category in I've seen in any con in recent years. But one thing: If you're gonna do lip sync, make sure you DO IT RIGHT or don't even bother doing it at all. The majority of the videos were great, although I didn't care much for the final one. It's good to see that comedy isn't a dying bread.

AMTV was decent, but nothing spectacular. There was an action video that could have easily overtaken that drama video in the action category. None of the videos were outright bad, but just not engaging for my tastes. I agree that this category really needs it's really suggested overhaul.

So did the contest blow my socks off as I was expecting? Not really. But it did give me some hope that things will change for the better. Aside from 2 videos, most of the encodes were clean (no "underwater" bad deinterlaced videos this time around). Not counting the terrible drama video in action, most of the videos were well edited.

I'll admit it right now, but yeah, I felt that I should have made it in and competed. I don't think I would have won due to the caliber of the comedy category, but I honestly think after watching most of the videos, I could have stood a decent chance.

I got a lot more to say, but people in my hotel room need to use the internet, and I'm kinda leeching the connection right now.

So props to DP for another technically sound contest, although the judging really needs a lot of work next year.

I would like to inform everyone that as I came back from the con with my girlfriend. I found a passed out and slightly shaking Castor on one of the beds. Apparently [while I was out] he tried to drown his nerd-rage with what I can only assume to be beer, jagger and rum. He seems to have stopped shaking as I type this though.

Actual contest related stuff to follow later. I promised someone I'd be a good boy so I will.

I was pretty pleased by the contest (also excluding bad drama in action). My only reaction....what does it say that "common accident" was creator's favorite?

Comedy was by far the best but to just get to the point. I'm kind of done with the contest. All suggestions seem to fall on deaf ears and are shrugged off.
The contest is weak and people aren't happy about that. I'm not talking about the editors that are posting on this thread either. I'm talking about the fans. People that you meet in the halls or even the one we met at the airport.

"The contest has been getting worse for the past 3 years. This year was slightly better but not much of an exception." That was from a random person I met in the airport while waiting for our wonderfully delayed plane.

In short, I'm focusing my efforts on fixing up the panels and working with KagatoAMV on both the AMV 101 panel and the Iron Chef since this contest doesn't seem to care about progression or putting on an excellent competition for the editors.

Good luck to all those involved and may god have mercy on your souls. |:>

"what" or "why"? What I posted are just unofficial results that I posted from someone who was twittering while they were there, if it's inaccurate just wait for the official results.
