3d source alpha! How does it work??!

Post by carlyxjack » Sat Jun 26, 2010 9:40 am

I always get trouble with 3d source alpha
i do not know which option i have to choose or which one not.
i have for example a clip in my mind ,where two people stand, one is far and the other one is really zoomed. From the person
who is really zoomed ,I want to go to the person who is not really zoomed.Like that person is watching over the other person.
I really want to learn the possibilties of 3d source alpha><

I don't see why you'd use 3d for that, just put the characters on two layers and zoom with pan/crop

oh ik know that, but it's just an example,i am sure they are other things that you can do Only
with 3d source alpha and not just with pan crop/zoom

This is just a practice i just did, just to give an idea of the knowledge i have now abot
3d source alpha... and it's not much

As Mastamind said, you can easily solve these things by zooming and using layers, 3DSAlpha just enables movement in space, on three axis.

So simply said - if you use a simple zoom, you can just zoom. If you need to move the thing around, rotate it, shake it, 3DSAlpha might be good for that - your video was fine example of what you can do with it, since it moves the whole thing with one layer (I suppose) in which you can have other layers.

You make children layers under the 3DSAlpha source, I suppose - never tried it, though.

sorry for my stupid comment,i already know the mother and the child track, but i thought
you have also to click the 3d source alpha option in combinate with the mother/child track.
I guess it was unnecessaryT_T.mother/child track was enough
In case of the cubus, the cubus has 6 parts, one for the top,one for the bottom and six for the sides,
but i do not know the degreses for the top, bottom and sides and have troubles with the x y and z option

You just make six layer separately and turn them to make a cube.

Though it'd probably be better to make this in some 3D program like AE or Blender.
