How do you make animated bars like a bar graph that goes up and down to number specs and maybe even dances with the audio?

is it not possible to stretch it and rotate it to get an vertical long thick line?
Then afterwards on the beat of the music,you make a keyframe and move your thick line to a a higher or lower position.
