Off-site honors

Postby gotegenks » Thu Jun 17, 2010 1:17 am

J told me he googled his video and found that it had been uploaded at amvnews, so a little while ago i googled my most popular release here, "We Will Burn In Hell" and to my surprise i found this
http://wakaranai.animeblogger.net/?p=4284

needless to say my ego is through the roof now, but what about you guys? have any of you guys googled urselves and found something completely unrelated to youtube or the Org that has to do with you? If you haven't even googled urself, try it! You might be pleasantly surprised!

Post some links guys~ for some reason i'm kinda curious as to how common this is or what kind of things people find.

I'm sure plenty of us here have done a vanity search or two. Mine doesn't work very well considering that I share a name with an internet service provider and an agricultural organization. Plus, as one of the recent AMV Watch entries on that same site shows, people usually spell my name wrong.

I think that's all I managed by now - though I bet http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbqQSQrOTlw must have gotten featured somewhere, otherwise I can't explain the views |:

Danny Choo likes KOR (which I have known for a while) therefore, I like Danny Choo.

Also there is a Romanian website which claims I am the owner of the Org. Org Actual, if you will. It still amuses me.

People uploaded my stuff on nicovideo. I think the best compliment ever was
"HOW CAN SUCH ARTIST OF GREAT SKILL EXIST IN FOREIGN COUNTRY" for my 8bit vid.
that and people have gone "OMG I didn't realize there was a Yotsuba anime already" :3

If you search for "amv" on youtube, Live is second on the list among millions of other amvs (ok, uploaded by someone else and with the name of "Amv - Life is Beautiful)

YouTube power ppl!!

I've had several videos of mine featured on AMVNews... most of the comments I've gotten aren't very nice though O: Makes me wonder why they still stalk me. But it seems some of the people on there do enjoy my work. Babelfish translations are always rough so I can only get impressions rather than a good translation.

A guy on a site once wanted to write an article on AMVs and wanted to use my video as one of several examples. I think the article has been taken down though. He had contacted me and asked my permission.

Most of the results I find are my videos uploaded to youtube similar sites in other languages, or youtube leaches. A good chunk of them are search results that have been cached. Then some are people who list off finals or semi-finals for random VCAs. And some are other boards where I recognize some of the screen names and icons, and it seems that people list off videos either they liked or are on their hd.

Whenever I do a search on my sn, Google always tries to correct my spelling O.O

This is the first result (That isn't me on the org/other sites):

This mention is for a colab...

I guess this shouldn't surprise me:

I don't know who this is but they stole my org profile image (it seems they are the only member of their board):

I've known about this site for a while:
http://www.nautiljon.com/amv/jaddziadax.html

Someone who listed a bunch of videos using the same source (too bad the link is dead):
http://www.freewebs.com/mewmewmadness/media.htm

And someone really liked my video at AMA:
http://wolr-radiofm.com/ama_2009.htm

The rest is all what I mentioned before.. Anyways a vanity search is always fun, but I guess I don't get caught up in it. (too much)

I've found stuff of mine (mostly Genkaiten) on forums and video streaming sites in something like 7 different languages. I found out after the fact that it was uploaded on NND and taken down for copyright violations 3 separate times. My stuff also appears in dozens of AMV torrent packs apparently.

There's the usual people uploading to youtube and aggregate sites collecting that. Kinda wish the vids I uploaded under my name would be the most popular youtube versions of them, but whatever, at least the ones I know of give me credit.

It's not online, but was made after Run Lola Run was shown in a film class a couple semesters ago. I showed the teacher it once I was done just for the fuck of it. I didn't expect the teacher to show it the whole class though. I *REALLY* didn't expect to get an email from him a few months later, in the following semester, asking if he could show it to that class as well. So apparently I'm being inflicted on some college students.

And I'm up by .02% today.

*edit* Oh yeah, almost forgot, got some minor play and mention among schizophrenic groups. I've occasionally heard reports of it being used by schizophrenics to show their family members/friends what it's like. One non-profit foundation was going to use it as part of their education on schizophrenia, but once I explained the possible copyright issues with AMVs they decided to just link to it rather than actually present it. Kinda disappointing, but I didn't want to end up being the cause of a non-profit foundations legal problems.

had a kinda odd thing, for me at least. Someone uploaded it to a russian youtube like service. A viewer there liked it enough to email me. At first that didn't register to me, but once I thought about it, my email address isn't listed on the site. They must have tracked me down to the org, which AFAIK is the only place my email address is listed. While knowing the video title and my nick makes my org account easy to find (it's the first hit for googling godix even without a video title), I was mildly surprised someone had gone to the effort too do so.
