This is a waste of time for new people.

This forum is for the general discussion of Anime Music Videos.

This is a waste of time for new people.

Postby Khameleon808 » Mon Dec 09, 2002 2:34 pm

Now maybe i was expecting more , but i thought when i posted my videos that hundreds of people would be downloading them , every vid i ever posted in here only like 30 or 40 people have downloaded that , but yet on the same list i can see a stupid ass video where the link doesnt even work have more hits than mine, I PAID for hosting for a reason, for you guys to see my video , i didnt give a shit about the cost or the website i was supposed to make. the important thing was to get my videos out there to you at home. Not to mention i have to twist peoples arms in here to get an opinion . when someone well known in here comes out with a vid , everone is like OH SHIT, WE GOTTA GO DOWNLOAD THAT SHIT. making it kinda onesided for people that are still trying to build a reputation, now, i dont care what anyone thinks of my vids, it was just some shit i did to waste some time, and what a waste of time it turned out to be since i can only get friends of mine to sit and watch these videos. i think opinions should be manditory , people wanna know what direction to move in , and what mistakes they need to correct, and they dont need to waste the time finding one person to trade opinions with , it should be a from a good range of vid developers . I can almost BET that i am gonna get flamed for this post , but obviously i dont give a shit . this has been bothering for about a week and a half. and other people have complained about it too, just not posted it.

I am more than willing to make vids for this room , but i would feel better if someone else's eyes saw them instead of mine

If you make good videos, you will get a reputation as well, and people will download your vids.
Also if you post around in the forums, hand out in the AIM chat, then people will get to know you. When people know you, they are much more likely to want to check out your videos than they are the videos of some random guy.

If I am correct, the point of this site is a catalog for anime music videos. The fact it became a hub seems to be more of a perk..at least that is what I got from when I was here last December and it was sort of a whole different feel.

If you want a lot of people to see your videos, why don't you enter some of the various contests and conventions? Coming up soon is Ohayocon, Sakuracon, Katsucon...and the mindwarp online contest and many others I see listed.

Can you blame people for not downloading every video that comes up? Do you even do that? If you want to build up a reputation HERE (the realm of amv fans do not all meet here) then make some friends here. In all actuality, this place really doesn't matter when it comes to getting your video well known unless you write guides or something (j/k  )

I'm not flaming you, but to say your videos were just to waste time is not a very good way to encourage people to think yours are well done. Some people may not even try them based only on that kind of comment by the creator.

Don't be discouraged. No amv maker stumbled into popularity on their way to the forum.

elitist?

Postby Khameleon808 » Mon Dec 09, 2002 2:57 pm

is it just me or do the 'TOP' dogs of this site and the high end vid developers (not all mind you) there are some really nice people out there.
but it seems like most of them are elitist bastards that assume sell all their possessions then help you out??? well not to bust your bubble or anything but you will have to deal with that in every field . its just a pain in the ass trying to make good things witout some dickhole telling us how cool they are and how and where the noobs need to make their posts, i will post in the most popular forum no matter what the topic is, cause i want my posts viewed, i dont wanna wait 4 days for someone to be like " i might respond to this noob" .

or maybe none of you know what i am talking about , or maybe think that i am out line for expressing my opinions in this manner. I am just beginning to doubt why i make these vids if they are just gonna get ignored by most of the users on here

Wrong impression

Postby Khameleon808 » Mon Dec 09, 2002 3:00 pm

WELL maybe i had the wrong impression ,
no one even bothered to tip me to the fact that there was a chat room, i have asked repeatedly if there was one

no is the only answer i was givin , if someone can direct me to the AIM chat room by giving me a room name or something , i can go there and not waste anymore of your time on these forums . i am not tryin to step on toes here, i just want to be heard and my work to be seen .

How many opinions have you given? :? Like I always say, if you wanna get opinions, you have to be willing to give some. It's as simple as that.

opinions

Postby Khameleon808 » Mon Dec 09, 2002 3:08 pm

i would love to give opinions , but it seems like all the damn links are broken for the videos that iwanna check out ,
andi have submitted about 15 opinions for 15 seperate videos that i have been lucky enough to download

by the way , dont get the wrong impression buddy, i didnt come to talk shit i came to voice my opinion , which may sound like the exact same thing to most people but as you can see i am not overtly hostile toward anyone in particular , just the general consensus of users who think they are too good to check out new peoples work , and they know who they are.

do you have to be a member of AOL to join Aol chat rooms? if so , why not make a chat medium on a service that is free for everyone to axx

You know have no right to complain about not getting opinions. If you can't find the time to critique someone's work, why should they do the same for you? :?

So true MJ. As for you Khameleon808, dont expect instant success, it takes along time to develope proper editing techniques and skills. I have been doing this for almost 4 years now and I still not incredibly good. And I think that people are incredibly helpful around here but how you ask for help and deal with the person will determine how and if they will help you. And as for opinions there are only two ways your gonna get opinoins:

1. Your vid is just so good or so bad that the other person finds it worth their time to post.
2. Do an opinion exchange, you can only recieve if you give.

That's no excuse man. There is opinion exchanges going on all the time in that part of the forum with vids that are downloadable. If you can't be bothered with exchanging with someone, there's no real reason for anyone to feel obligated to owe you any opinions.

owes me?

Postby Khameleon808 » Mon Dec 09, 2002 3:14 pm

i never said anyone owed me an opinion , as for your "detective work" reading my profile, when i submitted opinions i was under a different name since i saw the videos at my friends house and not my own.

and yea 15 sounds about right, and they were all positive opinions.

as for instant success , i didnt even remember sayin i wanted that, in fact after watching how shitty adobe premiere is with divx files i will keep making my vids with windows movie maker, at least that is something that doesnt screw up my finished product, i am just limited in the imagination factor when it comes to that program

just sad

Postby Khameleon808 » Mon Dec 09, 2002 3:18 pm

its just sad when i took the time to express my opinion and not more than 10 min pass where osmeone is telling me that i dont have a right to be bitter about not getttin an opinion, the last post i read makes sense,

no one is gonna post on my vid unless it is too good , or superbad, i didnt put it in to that perspective, realizing that now , i dont expect anyone to post an opinion about my work now.

Then a lot of your posts will get moved by the mods. It's that simple.

Hell no. It's understandable that people who come into anything with high expectations will get frustrated when they fall short. But posting about it won't really help anything.

The last time I talked about reasons for making AMVs, I started an "intense discussion" with most of the 'name' creators around here participating. I've learned my lesson since then, but I will say this: if your only reason for making AMVs is to become popular, and not because you LIKE what you're doing, you might want to reconsider. This is not an easy hobby, and it tends to suck an enormous amount of your time and creative energy if you want to do it at the elite/competitive level. Why do this in your free time instead of something fun if you don't really like it?

Misty had some good suggestions. If you impress people at cons, you will get a higher status around here. I don't believe there's a single 'name' creator who does not compete, or at least show at conventions. Online, your video has to catch your audience's eye with music, video, or a name; at a convention showing, the audience is there in their chairs, waiting for your video, whatever it is, to be delivered to them.

Ofcourse, to do that, you might have to make an ANIME music video. As cool as live-action and VGMVs can be, that's not what the bulk of the people on this site and in this scene are really after.
