The end is a custom animation from what i remember being told.
Imo, Its not necessarily heavy because it only happens at one part in the entire amv. Heavy to me is more like Empty Motion's amount of masks.

I see no further reason to continue this pointless argument.

Any further arguments are invalid.

(somewhat weak, I blame lack of stronger Noe scenes)

i didn't get the story, was it the story of the anime? it just felt like a random emotional video. it was good though!

and this:

Some masking, but gotta admit it was necessary ;x

...masking...necessary...to video's storyline? THIS VIDEO IS THE ULTIMATE BACKUP for what i'm trying to say. not ONLY does it have excessive NECESSARY masking, but it's got subtitles. Even if it is just the song translation (which i'm not entirely sure) it still defines the story and it's what the main character is saying/thinking (the only thing missing is the moving lips)
this story in this video is the equivalent to that of an illustrated children's storybook. If you don't understand it, you're probably LITERALLY retarded.[/quote]
The first video was a story of the anime - but slightly changed, so the outcome is different. Love triangles are fun.

As for the second video - necessary masking as in "Hatsune Miku has no anime in which she appears, because in that case I wouldn't have to mask". And yes, the subtitles are translation - if I used English song and didn't use subtitles, you wouldn't argue, this is almost the same case (or in different way - if I was uploading this to Japanese Nico Nico, I would remove the subtitles). Though I agree the masking is a little too heavy - well, I wanted it to shine for P:E finals :+)

There's heavy masking throughout the whole video, like the yellow lines, Shinji shooting a gun, blood in many scenes - watch rebuild of Evangelion and then try again.

well i didn't mean to insult your video, it's just that it's very easy to understand with the masking and subtitles.

but it was necessary to your story, like the futameat video, there are no episodes of FMA in which a penis appears (at least i don't think so) and they had enough respect for us to not mask dicks in so we have black boxes that imply the same.
if you'd have used any other girl anime character, outside of bebop's cast, then it'd have been the same, you'd have either masked em in, or had the different scenes spliced in with the subtitles...the subtitles pretty much make the story, so no matmter what you chose it would have been easily understood by the viewer.

The masking isn't a flaw, i just am not into editing like that, i wanted to make a different kind of video. I can back up every one of my effect choices with a representational reason, something it meant to the story, even if not bluntly stated.

Maybe i'll take the cop-out and say "YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN STORY" but in any case i didn't want to shove an emotional story (one pertaining to myself) down their throats (although that isn't always bad, it's nice to be read a bedtime story once in a while, and that is not a demeaning insult)

i have yet to find a video that does what i wanted to do better, not saying i did it the best, but i had a super-specific vision that i haven't seen done and am not even sure it's perfectly possible.

I still disagree - it's the lyrics that make the story in this case, not subtitles.

And if you want to see story different from original and lyrics, I suggest looking for some instrumental vid, there are some like that out there.
You also might be interested in dokidoki's I Am An Outsider, which completely changes the view on the main antagonist of Fushigi Yuugi ;x

I'm sorry gotegenks, but you're full of shit. I didn't use any masking in that video at all.

but the lyrics were the subtitles...the subtitles were visual aids is all i'm saying, If the lyrics had been like Rob Thomas (super easy to understand what he's saying) It'd be the same, i'm just saying the subtitles (though necessary, not slamming on it, i like the video) were the key element in anybody understanding that story, maybe it could have been done without, but the presence of those subs were the words being said in our heads as the video went on.

my bad, black boxes, i get myself confused, in the software i use, sony vegas, that effect would be achieved by masking black boxes. Me and my circle would call it a mask just because you used it, but uhh, glad it was a misunderstanding

well, u can always use a C.C. on a chroma keyed layer :| but anyways, my point with linking that vid was that it wasnt overly heavy and tbh, i can see that video without any black boxes still being humorous and getting the basic point across. :amv:

it's a really simple concept though, the song alone could be understood by the 2nd or third watch if one were so pervertedly inclined (everybody here)

it's hardly a concept, just brilliantly ranged focus on the relationship of two characters.

What the hell? Mind you, The Dreamer is one of the best Fooly Cooly amvs ..
Concept - an idea of something formed by mentally combining all its characteristics

gotegenks wrote:The Dreamer consists of "the relationship of two characters."
