Well, i have a problem with fooly cooly amvs, mostly because there seems to be a major lacking in scene choice and story comprehension....so i tend to batter on that a lot lol :|

If you weren't focusing on those two characters, you have to remember that they still have original stories/mindsets attached to them and explaining a vague story with two very deep characters may throw off the audience (like it did for me) but i still like the concept and so i can understand where your coming from. :book:

although lack of comprehension of the anime's storyline could be the root of a video's scene selection flaws, i don't think it's an extrinsic flaw, or even a flaw with the video, just a flaw with the editor that often results in flaws with the video.

most people let the song tell most of the story though, it isn't my fault that 90% of vids (percentage applying to videos in my catalogue as well) are based around the story of the anime.

to abandon the story/mindset of the characters in favor of shoving the storyline down your throat would be to (A) - not use some of the most colorful scenes, or (B) - mask the shit out of anything and everything that moves,

or if ur a nub (C)...SUBTITLES+MOVING LIPS = STOREE!

if it confused you at first watch w/o reading the desc, then either consider the possibility of not being a fan-video, or read the desc & re-watch while listening to lyrics.

if you can't tear yourself away from naota's love triangle or shinji's nubfaggotry, consider getting a life or doing brain-benders like sudoku.

or MAYBE i just need a big bumper "FORGET SHINJIFAG & NAOTAKKUN, -lyriclink- DSADFASDG!~@#!@"

with love~<3

i see people saying x.5/5 all the time, BUT i digress, that was a joke to lighten the mood of what i thought to be a little bit of a :( post, but that possibility has been shot to hell in more ways than one.

...although this started as a joke...i'm growing more and more tempted to spam capslock at you dweebs :nose:

Well, i didnt get the story until i read the description. I think that a really good video will slap the story on me once ive watched it at LEAST twice, but this one didnt.

You dont have to be so over the top. There are subtle ways to tell a story with deep characters. You probably wouldnt have to mask it OR use colorful scenes. (although using good scene selection is obviously a plus :|)

if it confused you at first watch w/o reading the desc, then either consider the possibility of not being a fan-video, or read the desc & re-watch while listening to lyrics.

If a video is complete nonsense story-wise to me until i read the description...then in my opinion that video fails. The point of a story amv is to present the story and you failed at pulling that off with me.

if you can't tear yourself away from naota's love triangle or shinji's nubfaggotry, consider getting a life or doing brain-benders like sudoku.

I have a life, i just dont choose to use it

there wasn't really anything to win. i just didn't understand what she thought was so separate about the two different point scales. i was just saying.. a 4/5 would be an 8/10, there's not really any debating.

and that post was just irrelevant, so i decided to reply. o.o

there wasn't really so much a storyLINE as much as just a concept.

this is the first vid i haven't regretted 40% of the clip choices (there was maybe one that i felt didn't represent what i wanted to tell myself in 20 years)

care to link me to a video where a semi-complex story/concept is completely defined without the use of subtitles/extreme masking. Not as a challenge, i just haven't seen one and i'd like to learn more about such witchcraft.

and for my final defense, IT WUZ VENT VIDEO, IDGAF WUTCHU THENK, MELEIK ET. YU DUN MATTER!!1

Alright, ill agree with you that ur concept was a good one. I still like having eva and flcl together. :amv:

this is the first vid i haven't regretted 40% of the clip choices

This hurt me to read.

GLADLY.
Can't argue with exsphere.

This might not tell a different story, but its still telling the original story really well ;3

Story of this one just makes me laugh. Only masking (and i wudnt really call this "extreme masking") is the black bars :ying:

and chiikaboom. :awesome:

ik some other ones but i dont want this post to be extremely long :|

It's VCAs winner |:

I also offer this:

(somewhat weak, I blame lack of stronger Noe scenes)

and this:

Some masking, but gotta admit it was necessary ;x

didn't really get it at the first watch, and it isn't even complex, it's hardly a concept, just brilliantly ranged focus on the relationship of two characters.
OtakuGray wrote:This might not tell a different story, but its still telling the original story really well ;3

so if i grab a techno song and pace the clips of an anime to fit into the song cut will you approve? i hardly see how this is original.
OtakuGray wrote:Story of this one just makes me laugh. Only masking (and i wudnt really call this "extreme masking") is the black bars :ying:

just because the masking isn't difficult or intricate doesn't mean it isn't heavy or excessive. IT WAS ALL OVER THE PLACE, and it was the object of the entire video. Not to mention the lyrics were blunt and as easy to understand as talking.
OtakuGray wrote:and chiikaboom. :awesome:

wtf? story? you confuse focus with concept. this has less of a concept than dreamer, this is random action without 80% of the cast.

Nya-chan Production wrote:

like you said, had some pretty heavy masking, not to mention pretty blunt use of text to define the climax.

Nya-chan Production wrote:I also offer this:

i didn't get the story, was it the story of the anime? it just felt like a random emotional video. it was good though!

Nya-chan Production wrote:and this:

...masking...necessary...to video's storyline? THIS VIDEO IS THE ULTIMATE BACKUP for what i'm trying to say. not ONLY does it have excessive NECESSARY masking, but it's got subtitles. Even if it is just the song translation (which i'm not entirely sure) it still defines the story and it's what the main character is saying/thinking (the only thing missing is the moving lips)
this story in this video is the equivalent to that of an illustrated children's storybook. If you don't understand it, you're probably LITERALLY retarded.

thanks for finding me support, i'm too lazy to get it on my own. |:>

I see no further reason to continue this pointless argument.

Any further arguments are invalid.
