i use
TIVTC and FDecimate, they are both adaptive to different framerates and levels of interlacing. Normal TFM results in aliasing and artifacts, but TIVTC does not.

I'm going to assume that FDecimate was a typo and just ask you if you realise that TFM *is* the field matcher in TIVTC, and you are confusing it with plain old telecide, which btw is fine as long as you know how to handle it...

it's been a while, but I remember that FDecimate is free decimate, and yeah the TFM thing slipped my mind, I thought TFM was Telecide and TIVTC was TFM  anyhow FDecimate is what I always used in order to be able to deal with encodes that had vfr.

I'm pretty sure you're still confusing then. I believe you meant TDecimate and not FDecimate. It is part of the TIVTC package and is used along with TFM.
...okay well, FDecimate does exist, but still, I believe it's somewhat less commonly used that TDecimate, that's why I wonder. >_>

http://neuron2.net/fdecimate/fdecimate.html

this is why i find lamenting about framerates silly. I always apply this filter when I IVTC, and no, I use fdecimate, not tdecimate, fdecimate just makes me feel more comfortable, since I like to mix and match several different packages. I have all the avisynth filters, over 500 dll and avsi files, and constantly experiment.

TBH, Telecide is better than TFM when you are doing 100% manual IVTC I find, because TFM tries to be clever and messes you up. On some funky sources though it is needed. Rarely have I found the need though. By manual I mean writing out OVR files or using YATTA.

That out of the way, if you use TIVTC/FDecimate, you really don't know how to IVTC by hand. You also have no idea about what framerate things should be, and are a fucking retard. inb4Kariudo edits this out.
