ACen 2010 AMV Programming Blocks Solicitation

Postby outlawed » Sun Apr 11, 2010 9:35 am

Some of you may have seen the AMV programming list for the con here:
http://www.acen.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=35695

We have several content dedicated power blocks. I am soliciting recommendations from the AMV community for these. Please give a holler in this thread with your suggestions. Two points I want to make are nothing worse than PG-13 and keep in mind these blocks are geared to a convention audience. I'm not soliciting the dance block because Ngsilver is gonna mix that live. More info about these blocks can be found in the link above.

Thanks!~

I'll dig up some links later, but first it's Question Time.

Is Old School intended for older AMVs or AMVs using older sources? Or both?

Clarissa for Upbeat or Comedy. Though I would put it in the former more than the latter.

Both.

How about AMVs with older editors? (Vlad)

Then definitely his 1993 KOR Video should be played. 17 years old, and it's still better than most of the videos out there today.

It's crazy, but it's true. I only want to be with you.

Kevin Caldwell's an obvious choice for Old School, but it still stands. Some of Hsien's work should be shown as well; I started because of his vids.

Caldwell is the AMV equivalent to a historical figure.

+1 for Hsien vids. I was already editing at the time, but I always looked forward to getting inspiration from him.

Okay, now we openly mock Duke.

I always wonder how disturbed he'd get by his legendary name, if he ever came by this site. ;)

It's only us older folks that insist on keeping him as part of the canon. Caldwell is about as known to newer editors as Grover Cleveland (in before some new American editor actually asks "Who?").

I like his videos, but my interactions with him in person left a lot to be desired. I kinda thought he was a douche, but my perspective may be warped by youth (then) and age (now).

I said I'd drop links in here, and I meant it. If any of these links don't work, let me know, because I have copies of most of these and can hook you up.

I forgot a few old schools (, , , ) and an upbeat () I wanted to mention. I should also point out that I second all of the earlier suggestions and figured it would be silly to repost them.
