Three things I have on my mind for this

1. Will they change the names in teh western version to match the names we had in the game

2. How condensed will the story be

3. Will it have the insipid dialogue of the game? (Don't get me wrong, I loved teh game but the dialogue was so blunt and redundant that half the time I felt there was no need to listen to it).

I can't believe I didn't notice this before

anyway I gotta say I loved the first episode, though it felt a little too tight, I mean they explained just what the journey of regeneration was about in a VERY simple way, glad they deleted some parts that really didn't add to the game's story (like the old lady Marble) and add scenes that would have been much better (like the battle of Lloyd with Forcystius).

most likelly a year or less after the 4th episode is out in Japan, like they did with ToP (Tales of Phantasia).

I hope they do, cause I don't like Genis is name in japanese... Genius sounds so cocky XD. I also am very fond to Raine and not Refill :/

The Wired Knight wrote:2. How condensed will the story be

in the first episode wasn't so condensed, but I think that in the second they will reach the tower of Salvation if they want to finish the game's story with 4 episodes. Maybe they will skip the 4 seals and made Colette get her angel powers after releasing 1 seal. I also think they will have to put Kvar is part if they want to make Sheena join the party (oh Sheena *o*) and make Kratos says the best line in the game XD.

yeah I know what you mean, specially Lloyd and Colette is dialogues in the game were very insipid in the english version, besides that Lloyd is english VA sucked XD.

Anyway I can see good things coming from this OVA :), hope it will not dissapoint the fans.

I've seen the other Tales o' Phantasia oav and didn't like it. I'm sitting through Shining X Tears wondering why I'm not stopping. Don't love it, don't hate it.

Only game turned oav I managed to stomach [rpg game mind u], was Tales of Eternia. Megumi Hayashibara's sexy voice is fts.

well I didn't like ToP that much mainly because the story was so condensed that it really didn't show the potential of that game :/

and I think ToE (Tales of Eternia) didn't sucked cause it was story apart from the game's storyline, they kept the plot about celestia and the great fall and the characters, but the story had "almost" nothing to do with the game, still a funny serie that I enjoyed watching

anyway I hope ToS will be better than ToP in the sense of story telling, I'm really worried about how they will handle the next 3 OVAs, too much story XD

Interesting to note that I heard that the DVD commentary for the 3rd OVA volume said that there will be more episodes for Tales of Symphonia; they're more likely going to be about the stuff in Tethe'alla.

I had been wondering how they were going to condense everything from the game into just four episodes at the pace they were going.

I played (and beat) Tales of Symphonia. It was a good game. For those of you who are wondering, the four OVA's leave off halfway through the game's storyline. Though this is sort of obvious from the amount of unresolved conflicts that are leftover.

All that remains is to see if they make another OVA set to finish off the remainder of the story.

I played the sequel too, and the name isn't revealed for plot reasons. They just never actually thought out of a name.

Also, seems like the tethe'alla sequel will be only 2 episodes... I wat'd.

Uh, dude, they named it Symphonia. Look at the other Tales games, Tales of Vesperia was about Yuri and his guild called Vesperia. The tales games always name the game after something of major importance. That is the only explanation I have, and it seems to work. Plus, Dawn of the New World was a spinoff and had very little relation to the previous game. Even the creators said so. Most of the side quests and secret skits were about the old game, but remember, side quests aren't supposed to have any relevance to the overall story of the game because the designers didn't think that everyone would find them.

Oh, crap, I'm just rambling on, aren't I? Sorry, my point is that they did name the tree. Just think of why they named it Symphonia.

Correction! The tree was named Yggdrasil. Tales of Symphonia and Tales of Phantasia are set in the same world except that ToS is set 4000 years before Tales of Phantasia and the name of the World Tree in ToP is Yggdrasil. Also your explanation doesn't apply to all of the Tales games, since there's nothing in Tales of Eternia named "Eternia" and there's nothing in Tales of the Abyss named "The Abyss" and the same thing applies to many of the other Tales games.

The_TEKnician wrote:Plus, Dawn of the New World was a spinoff and had very little relation to the previous game. Even the creators said so. Dawn of the New World is a sequel, not a spin-off...very big difference between the two. Also a lot of side quests in the Tales games have relevance to the plot. Look at Tales of the Abyss, the super boss of the game is Nebilim. After you beat her, you learn more about Jade and his past. Also I forget the exact reason for naming it Tales of Symphonia but it has something to do with music...I just don't remember the exact reason.

Now enough of my rambling on.

Only 2 episodes for the Tethe'alla? WHAT?! Best be trolling.

Well, we'll get the second DVD with the 2nd ep in may, and no other DVDs seem announced atm. Perhaps they'll just announce them, as 4 eps seems to make more sense, honestly.
Also for the tree name, I seem to remember some subquest in Dawn of the New World about it, but all I can remember is it just being called the "World Tree." Although, Yggdrasill apparently means world tree, so yeah...
