Seems like it's gonna be similar to the first season. Or WILL it?

Episode 1 was pretty good. Its a mighty big timeskip, though. o_o; And I was getting so pumped up to see them perform, but nooo, KyoAni got lazy and just skipped through time to Ui and her friend being late to see it fully. =P Though I did really like the intro to S2, with Yui on guitar.
I'm really likin' the ED a lot. :'D This season should be good stuff.

Its not actually that big of a time skip. Believe it or not, season 1 actually spanned 2 complete years of high school. And if I remember correctly, the OVA showed the summer that they had right before season 2. Oh and, Japanese high school kids go from freshman to Juniors to Seniors. So that's how Azusa is already a junior and everyone else is a senior.

S2 episode 1 was good, but I literally LOL'd multiple times during episode 2. (Pro-tip: don't eat while watching this episode.) Let's see...

Spoiler :
The girls try to get Yui to wake up by telling her there is cake (the cake is a lie). Yui seeing no cake, calls them liars and promptly goes back to sleep.

Ritsu catching the box Yui dropped when Mugi says she heard that the tea set was used by the Belgian royal family.

Sawako-sensei saying that while she hasn't played guitar in a long time, she's probably still better than Yui.

Yui bursting Azusa's bubble when she shows her a picture of Sawako in her high school band costume.

Mugi's reaction when entering the home center store.

What's Yui so excited to show everyone? Screws. (It's probably because she is missing some herself that they fascinate her. If you know what I mean.)

Ritsu, after calling Yui a kid for playing with a electric screwdriver, blinds Mio with the light mounted on her helmet.

Ritsu, Mio, Yui, and Azusa's reaction at the value of the guitar. Plus Mio freaking out.

Mugi's non-reaction.

The gang's reaction after thinking of how to spend the money.

Mugi's non-reaction.

The shiny faucet.

Ritsu eating the receipt. Okay, trying to eat.

Dark Sawako.

Yui asking Sawako to hit her in the face with the money and Sawako actually doing it.

Yeah, I'm still alive......

Episode 2......oh man there were like so many memorable moments out of this! Basically Yui and the others
Spoiler :
were cleaning out their closet of the clubroom and discovered Sawako-sensei's old guitar. She didn't want it anymore so she told the girls to pawn it off and give the money back to her so she can put it into the club. It just so happens Sawako's guitar has far more value than the girls realized (500,000 yen worth to be exact!!!). The girls (especially Ritsu, but of course not Mugi) got plans of their own of what to do with the money to a point Ritsu lied to Sawako-sensei on the amount. She was not pleased at Ritsu's little stunt so she decided that she'll buy one thing everyone would agree on. There seems to be a continuing plotline of what's going to happen to Azusa after the other girls graduate. So with that in mind, they decided to surprise her by giving her a pet turtle Azusa saw at the hardware store.

Hilarious moments include:

- Yui discovers the cake is a lie.
- Ahhhhh.,...Mio in a ponytail!
- Mugi discovers the simple joys of a hardware store........
- YUI, PIERCE THE HEAVENS WITH YOUR DRILL!
- Yeah, that's right, 500,000 yen!!!
- You can afford to buy an Azunyan for that amount!
- My......GOD! Is that even.....?
- Yui obviously has other plans for the money which will involve a role-reversal.....
- This is your premise on drugs.
- Bwahahaha, oh god, Ritsu! You're so desperate!
- I like where this is going! 8-)

I think this may be one series where the second season is actually better than the first. Not to mention it starred one of my favourite guitars. Gibson SG ftw. I don't see how they could sell it ... I'd mount it on my wall or something and only take it down for it's birthday and when it needs to be taken for a walk. :amv:

Hey, finding the animated gifs requires finesse timing or else I have to search for them the hard way!

I had a suspicion that they were going to find one of Sawako's old guitars from the preview.

Red Gibson SG = Guitar Hero 2 PS2 controller.
Gibson Les Paul = Guitar Hero 3 controller. (Sadly, in black or white. But at least you can change the faceplates.)

Looks like KyoAni is getting better at mixing some drama with the comedy this season. Episode 3 is not as funny as the last one, but we got some nice character moments. To silence the whiners I suppose, there's a heavier music focus this episode (at least compared to the usual K-On! episode). And as a plus (to me and a few others), it's a Ritsu-focused episode. Drummers need more love.

Spoiler :
Oh Yui, you drama queen! And she's back.
Some nice Mugi moments this episode, especially during the keyboard segment.

Looks like in the next episode of Lucky Star K-On!!, they visit Kyoto on a field trip. And Pocky is involved.

So Ritsu is a fan of Keith Moon, drummer of The Who?
And also coming soon is a new song from the HTT, "Honey Sweet Tea Time" with possibly Mugi doing a vocal solo!

And poor, poor mindless self-indulgent Sawako-sensei!

All in all, episode 4 was pretty good. It showed its roots from a 4-panel comic more than most episodes of the series due to the setup-punchline nature of the gags. Which is good for the people who read the manga as it means that they are adapting it fairly faithfully. And the animation was surprisingly better than usual.

Spoiler :
The first bit with Ui worked a bit better in the manga. Hearing Ui's voice kinda gave it away. Still, it was cute.

Although the Mio and Nodoka flashback/train bit worked much better.

It was much more amusing to hear Ritsu and Yui (badly) imitate the Kansai speech pattern. And then having Mugi (who's voiced by a real Kansai native) do it properly was the icing on the cake.

Why is Mugi checking out the pillows when the get to their room?

I love how everybody suddenly drops when Sawako appears in their room. Busted.

It also amuses me that slowly but surely Sawako-sensei is losing her carefully crafted mature teacher image in the eyes the other students in the class. She's becoming more of a big-sister than a teacher-figure.

I guess the next episode is an anime original story? It looks interesting.
