open-source, corss-platform 64bit editing

Post by SJCorrectet » Sat Feb 13, 2010 2:38 pm

blender 2.5 alpha 0 is out and available to download.

The video sequencer is a full-featured non-linear editor and is capable of advanced composting.

The downside is no-one uses it for video editing and past versions have been difficult to work with.

But now that we have essentially free 64bit video editing I'm going to run it through some stress tests and do some test renders and (maybe) report back.

If this feature of the program gets some attention, more development energy may go into it.

Yeah, I've heard Blender can do video editing, advanced composting and 3D at the same time. To be honest I feel a bit sceptical about it, but having editing, composting and 3D in the same program does sound great! Good thing if you'll really report back. Thanks for the info.

yeah, its too much trouble. The new release means old tutorials are useless and setting up blender for editing is very unintuitive. I got around 25% of the way there

Much of Blender 2.5 isn't that different; sure, there's been a lot of UI tweaks, but the core tools remain remarkably untouched, aside from many clarifications.
and setting up blender for editing is very unintuitive
Switch to the "Video Sequence Editor" view. That gets you into, well, the video sequence editor.
