My first AMV *help*

Postby drayon » Fri Feb 19, 2010 11:28 am

Hi ^^

I'm trying to make my first amv, it's nothing serious as a project. But I've always wanted to try to create something similar.
The problem I have encounter, every time I have tried to start making an amv. Is that I can't decide on what anime and song.

Found this site some days ago and thought I should make a post and maybe get some help with my problem :P

This is what I have come up with so far:

Song/Music:
supercell - Kimi no Shira nai Monogatari
H.E.A.T - 1000 miles
Rod Stewart - Faith of the heart

Anime's:
Tsubasa Chronicle
Gundam SEED
Nodame Cantabile

So I really need help on what I should decide to do.
Suggestions and ideas are all welcome :D

I think that your main problem is that you're asking people about what you want to edit. The most qualified person to answer that question is actually you. This is especially true when it comes to your first AMV.

The only advice that I can give you is to truly listen to the songs that you like. Don't just hear them. Listen to the words. Feel its rhythm and beat. And try to understand the emotion and meaning of the song. Then, open up your editing software and use whatever anime you feel matches this feeling.

Oh, you sound so cute and innocent! But I'll help you anyways.

1) Start off with a song that has a rhythmic tempo (probably <120 bpm) and listen to it continually for at least one week.
2) While listening, focus on only one anime. ONE and only one. When you get better, then you can use more. Imagine scenes that would play perfectly with the song. This would require good knowledge of the anime beforehand. :book:
3) When composing your video, do not cut too fast :nono: , show the clip for at least 2 seconds each or every bar of the song. The thing that pisses people off is too many cuts too fast.
4) Use as little video filters as possible. Stick to the true nature of the footage you use. The more filters you use, the more distracting it is.
5) Watch your video (from beginning to end) frequently. Look for glitches and off-beat cuts.
6) Have a friend (preferably not a jerk) preview your video before posting it on YouTube.

REMEMBER: TAKE YOUR TIME! IF IT'S NOT PERFECT, TAKE THE TIME TO MAKE IT PERFECT!
Almost as hard as fighting a Holy Paladin.
