Need Clips/Anime with Numbers and Mechanical Stuff

Postby Nira1992 » Wed Oct 07, 2009 8:56 pm

I need clips/anime with lots of numbers and/or mechanical stuff (no mechs though). Possibly also a scene with a whale. I prefer pretty, newer anime, but I'll take a look at older stuff too.

Thanks for whatever help you can give. :D

Only thing I can think off with numbers would be the Kingdom Hearts trailer. It has the countdown from 13 to 1.
As a mood-lifter I'll also add that Monstro appears in Kingdom Hearts. ;D ...ah...ha..ha~...
No anime crosses my mind, though.

Numbers - one of Douggie's AMVs (on Mind Game!). Also ef - a tale of memories has all the numbers from 99 to 1.

Whale - Mind Game. Mostly the inside, though.

Mechanics - dunno really what you need. GitS and any steampunk might be nice (Steamboy, Sakura Wars,...)

Thanks!

For the numbers, it can also be anything related to math, not just numbers, so like geometric shapes and fractals are good too.

I'm actually not quite sure what I need for mechanics either... still developing that part of the idea. I think I need pretty much mechanical stuff that we have in reality, like scenes of people working on cars, maybe building things, simple robots, some basic computers, stuff like that. No big robots moving around on their own, nothing really high-tech.

Numbers:
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya opening Bouken Desho Desho
Psieye from Animesuki wrote:You know, I've never scanned the OP in so much detail as this before... After the title and before the Starry Run sequence are a lot of formulae written in white (hence hard to read). I could spot:

Haruhi Power Walking shot (focussing on her skirt/mid-body)
Electron-positron orbits
The Capital Lambda symbol

Haruhi Power Walking shot (focussing just above her head)
- Chemical formula for a Benzene ring (along with its formula written out compact form: C6H6)
- t_universe (presumably a Cosmology equation)
- Planck's Constant (i.e. h-bar) in [J s] units
- Some geometric series summing to infinity
- D = 0.4 + 0.3 x 2^n (not sure what this is an equation of)
- Schrodinger's equation written in Dirac Notation
- N = R^0 x f_p x n_e x f_l(?) x f_i(?) x f_c x f (this seems somewhat familiar but I can't quite pinpoint it...)
- H(x) = - SUM [for all x within the set X] (......) (couldn't read all of this but I don't quite recognise that x within X set condition. Maybe a Hamiltonian?)

Haruhi Cheerleader sequence
English + Kanji + Standard form representations (i.e. 10^3, 10^6, etc) of orders of magnitude going upwards (up to Septillion and higher)

Mikuru Cheerleader sequence
- Schrodinger's equation applied to a potential well
- E^2 = c^2 p^2 -> (i h-bar d/dt)^2 c^2.... (etc etc etc) (Normally it's E^2 = c^2 p^2 + m^2 c^4 so this is some expression for a massless particle - likely a photon)
- Expression for the time-dependance of wave functions (though they're using d^2/dq^2 where q is a generalised space coordinate)
- h-bar = h/2*Pi (standard notation this)
- E = mc^2
- A partial differential equation used in Thermodynamics (I think that's S for Entropy and u for Internal Energy... damn so rusty on this one)
- A probability expression
- Grad^2 spelled out (d^2/d(x_1)^2 + d^2/d(x_2)^2 + ... + d^2/d(x_n)^2)

... I'm probably the only one right now who's wishing Mikuru isn't blocking the background in this sequence.

Haruhi Banchou sequence
Kanji + Standard form representations for orders of magnitude this time heading towards the small scale (10^-15, -16, etc)

The problem is that it's had to make out the equations since like he mentioned, either Haruhi or Mikuru are blocking some of it. Not to mention that the text is moving and white text on light backgrounds aren't easy to read to begin with.

The Day of Sagittarius episode has Yuki hacking the computer game program that they are playing to even the odds. I'm not sure if that is 'working on a computer', though.

Mechanics:
Ah, My Goddess! has a bunch of scenes with Keiichi and the other members of the auto club working on various vehicles and stuff like motors. Skuld also is seen tinkering with some contraption or another, usually working on Banpei.

You're Under Arrest (which is from the same author as AMG) should have a bunch of scenes with Miyuki working on some vehicle.

Initial D also has a few scenes with the guys working on their cars.

I haven't seen it myself but maybe Real Drive would have what you want.

Let me see

You could try Chrono Crusade
Cowboy Bebop
Yu-gi-oh
Ghost in the Shell (Does that count as a mech anime....)

The Animatrix has both these things in spades! It's a collection of nine stories, so don't look to the third, fifth, sixth, or seventh for machines (they do have nice moments with randomly-popping up numbers though.)

Try...neon genesis evangelion...that has some good mechanical scenes if you look hard enough...and you could also try The Girl Who Lept Through Time :3

Then that guitar thingies popped up and went dun dun DUN dun then those box thingies went zooming by and twirling around and shit. Oh god, then the hexagons popped up and I was like 'I just got a stiffie'. Then there was the circle with those thingies going around and I blew my load.

of what is texhnolyze (mechanical arms, legs and that stuff) I was searching this kind of stuff so
thanks for everything to the last posts

Macross Frontier is mostly mecha shots/singing, but there are some colorful tech panel scenes spread throughout.
