What is the difference between adobe premiere and final cut video editing software? Besides Final Cut is on a Mac and Premiere is on a PC, what are the differences? I am taking a college class that teaches Final Cut. I am excited to learn Final Cut because I know it is the industry standard. But I own premiere and a pc. Will learning Final Cut help me to understand Adobe Premiere?

they are similar some effects may be different and the viewing monitors are alike, but over all Final Cuts basic service and Premiere basic service are alike.

If it makes you feel any better i started with premiere and it was a hell of a lot easier when i had to use final cut in class because most of the basic timline and effects where the same. Its really just how you get to them and rendering that is different.

Windows Movie Maker has gone through several revisions. The latest can be found at

http://explore.live.com/windows-live-movie-maker
or
http://explore.live.com/windows-live-essentials-beta

It is part of the Windows Live Essential apps, but you can select to install only WMM. Also, you need Vista/7 to use it; XP is no longer supported.

I think this needs an update. Vegas is like $130 bucks now.

It's been many different prices in the 6 1/2 years since that was posted. The thread really just needs to be killed.

How about a Current Software thread, with only shit from the last year or two? At least people know when they have old crap then? (hi virtualdubmod)

Yeah, I agree. I think we need to somehow let people know what software is supported by people in the hobby, currently.
This sticky may have been relevant in the past, but it's probably more confusing than anything now.

Even these do a better job IMO:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_vi ... g_software
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison ... g_software

and not to sound like a broken record, but: just google "AMV app," and see what sort of relics turn up.

yeah; I don't think this listing is really helping anybody!

Most of the Video Editors & Directors 'come with the Newer Computers today.

hmmm, now if a laptop had the option of Avid Media Composer or Sony Vegas Pro on-board,
then this list would be totally useless .. unless you, for some reason, actually wanted
Adobe Premiere Pro or Magix Video Pro!!!!
