A couple of things in Premiere that I can't explain

Post by yokochan2010 » Sun Dec 13, 2009 4:59 pm

I'm getting a couple of issues trying to get everything working on Premiere. I've got AMVapp already installed and everything, but I noticed a couple of errors. One was it thinking my disc is full when it for a fact isn't. The other is, my other compressors aren't showing up. Here's a link to my Flickr with those pictures:

Can anyone give me some assistance on this issue?

The disk full COULD be caused depending on current permissions on the system (owner?) or even with some unpermissive security programs (such as Norton). But seeing you're also having the compressors problem, I would try a fresh install after uninstalling the AMVAPP and then the adobe premiere, since that could be also causing the second problem. After that, try restarting and trying once again.
If the disk has almost 30gb, I don't think there could be any space problem.

My compressors are still not showing up. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've reinstalled and restarted a couple of times.

Regarding the 'disc full' error, I looked at my space available and I have over 40 GB free. How would I change the permissions for that in Norton? I'm considered the administrator of this computer (I have 2 profiles on it).

Mhh, if both installations are correct, and it still doesn't work, what I would think of is the following:

- Check if the disc you're using to export to is NTFS (should appear in My Computer when clicking on the disc to the left in XP, though I doubt this is the problem due to the short your project is).
- Disable the Norton security while exporting.

The fact that even HUFFYUV doesn't appear in the compressor page is strange, did you check the exporting movie settings? What does it say there in file type or about compression?
I don't know too much about technical details, but that is as much I would guess.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by this. I found out I don't even have Norton, I have Symantec Endpoint Protection.

Here's a new image, showing the properties of my main disc:

I see, then it's fine. The last thing I would check is, when reaching the exporting window, search well around the file types and settings. If it gets harder than that, I would be getting out of ideas

This is what I get when I look at the export settings.

You want to select "Microsoft AVI" not "Microsoft DV AVI"

That should give you access to the other compressors.

And for the "out of space" error, are you exporting to your main disk or to an external? If it's an external, check the properties and make sure it's NTFS, not FAT32.

Thanks! The compressor issue's fixed!

The disc I'm exporting to is my main one.

I can make previews now! Everything's much better! Thank you very much everyone!
