No, I'm quite serious, there are hardly any fruits and vegetables that I can stand to actually eat. Lettuce, corn, potatoes... that's pretty much it. At one time I started eating some carrots and broccoli for about 2 weeks, thinking "maybe I will start to like it if I keep eating it", but after 2 weeks it still tasted just as shitty as it did on day one.

I know I probably eat worse than just about anyone else, but luckily I have never had any serious health problems yet.


Well.. Lettuce is pretty much crunchy water, having zero nutritional value, and corn is full of sugar and fats. Potatoes are ok, but are really startchy and not good in large quantities.

If you really hate veggies and fruits, you need to probably take vitamins/things that give you the same things that eating said vegetables and fruits give you. Because, to be honest, if you don't eat any of those, your health is really going to hurt later in life. And I mean REALLY hurt. There's a reason pirates got scurvy. :lol:

But I mean, do you seriously hate all vegetables? Cucumbers? Squash? Bell Peppers?

And Fruits? Strawberries, blueberries, apples, oranges?

That's just a shock to me. I've never met somebody that hates ALL veggies/fruits.

Yep, there's pretty much not any that I like.
But, it's not so much the flavor of lots of them, but more the texture or feeling of it I guess. I mean I love things like various kinds of fruit juices, but I can't bring myself to eat the actual fruits. I'm actually quite jealous of people who can eat various things and enjoy it all, because I'm always confined to a rather small selection of foods that I can actually eat.
When I try to eat certain things, I feel like I could puke. In fact, I HAVE done that once or twice when trying to eat some stuff.

Hmm... Have you ever thought of hiding food?

I mean like... Order a hamburger or cook a hamburger or something you like, and sneak in bell pepers and spinach or other things. Small enough that you can't notice it, but big enough that you get enough nutritional value.

Same with fruits. IF you get dessert or something, sneak in some strawberries or blueberries or somethign ilke that.

yeah, use fruits/veggies as garnish.
i can never make it a habit to eat fruit, but you can make a good salad by slicing up an apple and throwing it in your lettuce/spinach.

What is your usual diet? What do you normally eat? Post a list.

I'm right there with you. I think a big thing about it is the texture, since the taste itself doesn't actually change.

I like carrots raw, although their sweetness does get fatiguing, and broccoli just cooked--steamed or boiled until it's bright green. If it doesn't crunch when you bite into it, you've overcooked it. The only times I don't mind mushy carrots or broccoli is in soups and stews as a secondary component of the dish.

As for fruits, just eat tomatoes. Despite what the government says, they are fruits. Wonder why the main ingredient in V8 is tomatoes? Try squeezing juice out of a cabbage with your bare hands. And Chef Boyardee canned pasta having a "full serving of vegetables in each serving"? Try, full serving of fruit! (Not that I recommend to people eating canned pasta, even though I do myself, on occasion. Hey, it's cheap! And unlike instant ramen, I get a serving of fruit vegetables.)

And iceberg lettuce, contrary to the widely held notion, does provide good levels of vitamin K, moderate levels of vitamin A and a little vitamin C, and some dietary fiber with very little calories. Other types of lettuce are even better.

I usually only eat 2 meals a day. Lunch is typically fast food, a burger or chicken sandwich most of the time. Sometimes with fries and soda. (I only drink soda maybe 4 times a week, otherwise its always water)

For dinner, I usually have frozen pizza once or twice a week. Usually I eat chicken. Not the kind you actually have to cook, but the frozen stuff. Chicken strips, chicken nuggets, diced chicken pieces. I usually supplement it with either instant ramen or rice. I usually have potato chips with it.

Yesterday I bought a rice steamer, so I'm thinking maybe I can mix a few veggies in with my rice. They don't taste as bad that way.

you need vitamins and minerals in your diet. get some milk. if you like sweet foods drink chocolate milk. calcium enriched orange juice will help you get a few vitamins and minerals too. eggs are pretty good too, though high in cholesterol.

if you go to a fast food place for lunch break, try getting lower sugar beverages, usually they'll have like an unsweetened ice tea or something, or water down the soda you're getting. if you have a microwave at work, you can bring frozen dinners or leftovers from dinner, which will save you money and gas.

if you don't like cooking, try frozen dinners like healthy choice, though i find them small, but there are larger ones like stouffer's and bertolli "serve for 2" dinners. if you're cooking frozen chicken (get frozen chicken breasts, thighs or wings, not breaded stuff) and rice, you can make into a tasty stir fry by adding celery, peppers, bok choy, garlic and/or onions (best to buy them raw if you don't mind doing a little chopping). slice and fry the chicken first to cook it thoroughly then add in the extras for a few min. garnish with sauce (soy, teriyaki, or ginger) if you still don't like the taste of the veggies. whole thing takes about 20 min, 1 pan, 1 chopping knife and a spatula to prepare.

you might be able to get away with eating lots of fat and cholesterol since you're still relatively young, but when you hit your 30s it's not gonna work so well.

Am I the only person here that actually works out/goes to the gym ...? I sure hope not. If the stoner is the only one working out it would be rather sad if i was in better shape than most of you. lol

Also, most peoples bodies are different so diets for individuals vary. Naturally, things like excess sugar, caffeine, alcohol, sodium and such are bad for just about anyone, but things like meat, veggies and milk products vary a lot as to how your body handles it.

One more thing, like 50% of health is genetics, so eat well all you want, you'll still die at 35 of heart failure!!! MUWAHAHAHAHA!


Not really, but it is a factor.

I hate gyms. I just walk around my neighborhood, which is free and I don't have to interact with other human beings. That and two 20 lb dumbbells.

Pretty much same for me at the moment.

I would probably go to the gym if I had someone to go with regularly. I used to swim competitively in Russia, but the only reason I actually kept up with it was because I had friends who signed up to the swim team with me - so my motivation was not the exercise or the competition, but the fact that we got to act like idiots and mess around during and after practice. Later in Canada, I still did the swim team but I never really made friends with the team-mates here and eventually dropped it. I was equally good at actual swimming in both Russia and Canada (I had the 2nd place curse - always took 2nd place in my heats for some reason...) - but I eventually lost motivation in the latter scenario. Well, the elevated chlorine levels in pool water in North America also turned me off, but it wouldn't have made me quit by itself.

I think for most extroverted people, there's nothing better to get them to exercise than having friends to go with. I wish I did - I'd totally pick up whatever sport [that doesn't involve heavy use of my left elbow] if people I trusted and had fun with were on it with me.

I agree with this. While I was in Iraq, my room mate and I went to the gym everyday (I mean, what else were we going to do?) and it was fun, plus you can always push yourself harder with a spotter and/or someone to talk shit to (which makes you not want to look like an ass if you can't lift the weight they just lifted :mrgreen: ). But since we've been back and reintroduced to our families and lives we had prior to leaving for Iraq, both of us haven't been back to the gym, at least not consistently :roll:

I've tried going by myself for a while, but its just not the same, plus the wife'll nag at me if I'm too late coming home :sweat:
