Contact the contest header... that's pretty much all you can do. :\

Yes I can see him on MSN everyday, and I ask him everyday, but he never answeres me :(
All I can do is to tell people that if they want a trophy then not the I-CON is the best contest for them :)
I won a lot of contests and I've never get anything... I didn't really expect a trophy (you know, who cares, it doesn't matter at all), but when they said that I actually won a trophy, I was so happy, and I couldn't wait for it :D
It would have been better if they hadn't told me about the trophy...

Been there. I have one contest owes me a certificate, and another a gift card (I still have very high hopes on that one).

But, it's not the trophy, it's the bragging rights!!!

This is MADNESS ! They hate Hungarian editors ! Then we declare war against the USA !

Own opinion: it's easy and comfortable to ignore somebody who is thousands of miles far from you and claiming (begging for) his/her award. It's some point of view jerkiness or laziness when the organizer states clearly that the award is surely shippable shipping cost is not a problem. Despite of that you are being ignored after a time. Heads up, I am also "still waiting" since months some awards which will be never posted....

Hi Lu

I didn't say I am angry or ... anything.
I am just sad. That's all. And I think it is not fair, even if I am far far away, if they promised something, they should do it.

People actually in the US sometimes don't get awards from US conventions unless they pick them up there. Some editors I know who visited AWA this year picked up awards from many, many years past. It has very little to do with being in Hungary or Europe. Most AMV contests do not seem to have a lot of funding, sometimes the coordinators have to pay shipping themselves. If you really want the trophy, try offering to pay for the shipping. Whatever you choose to do, it can only be handled by the contest coordinators or the convention staff, there's nothing that the forum users on this website can do to help you.

I always send out all my trophies and even check it the person got it for all my contests 8-)

It's easier if done right away after the event rather then later I find

....I agree :nono:

I won 27 (which was last years so you couldn't have won 29 as it hasn't occurred yet, I'm thinking you mean 28) it was nice because it was the first thing I entered and the first thing I won. While the contest isn't very large and is run a bit questionably from what I noticed afterwards I still got mine. Though I also live on the same island as the con so the shipping couldn't have been much. It still turned me off to the contest enough not to enter again unless I was actually going to attend. People not receiving their awards from various cons seem to be a common thing from what I hear but if it really bothers you you can try posting here http://www.iconsf.org/forum/

Then the problem is laying in the rules & regulation of several US conventions. What do I mean ?
If they are opened for overseas contestants (this also should be marked somewhere that is opened, but anyway I usually ask this by mail before submission) also at least it would be fair to show somewhere that " Award shipping is not granted due to budget reasons" or sth like that. In this case you could know in advance what to expect when you submit sth. This little piece of extra info could avoid a lot of misunderstanding or disappointment -mainly for non-US contestants I think.

What I really do not like is the "I don't give a damn to you after the contest" attitude and the lack of honest communication in some cases. If shipping is a problem, well OK, no problem at all, it's really a reasonable situation just let us clearly know that. I do not consider clear and honest communication with a Contest organiser, when after my ask he/she states that "sure, shipping is not a problem, just wait a little and you"ll get it"....and after some month later the award is still under shipping...

Shouldn't be better for both parties if the coordinator clearly states in advance that this is not possible ?

And another reasonable thing: European contestants cannot just manage to simply jump to USA if there is a Con where he/she submitted something. Despite of -as you said - there is a little do with living in Europe  [/s]
