WTF?! NEED SOME HELP?!
Well... my Vegas Pro 9.0 has, for some reason, ceased playing certain videos. When I place a video in Vegas, if the video says ffdshow video codec, then the visual will not show. The audio plays but it shows nothing. Any ideas?

get gspot
drag&drop
if you see something other than Lags, Huffy or Uncompressed you need to re-encode. Refer to Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides Lovingly Overhauled Largely by Zarxrax for info

Re: WTF?! NEED SOME HELP?!
GSpot is terribly outdated and won't work well with anything different than avi. If you have mp4 or mkv, for instance, it'll hardly say much, especially with the latter, you won't even know the codecs. Get MediaInfo instead. Upon install, choose HTML from the combo box when you get to choose the output format, and be sure that it adds the voice to the right click menu.Kariudo wrote:get gspot

After that, just right click on the file and choose the MediaInfo voice. It'll tell you everything. Hell, for x264 encodes, it'll even tell the compression settings used, unless they where manually hidden by hacking the hex.

This might not be relevant, but I would like to state that these video files worked previously. Then I had to reformat my computer due to virus. After I reinstalled Vegas and then now it doesn't work.

Re: WTF?! NEED SOME HELP?!
Doesn't really matter. Those avi files are lossy, and have h264 video streams in them. You'll definitely want to convert them to lossless/make lossless clips/edit through fake avis/bait and switch. Whatever your choice, this will help. In case you can't understand something, I suggest you to read back in the guide, as anything you'll need is explained there, most likely.Minimoto wrote:This might not be relevant, but I would like to state that these video files worked previously. I still find it humerous how many times this EXACT question is asked.
