It's a freakin' hobby! What's the big deal?!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is it more mature to sit on the couch, watching TV all day while snacking on junk food? Far far far more people, well over 20, do that. Why don't you have pity for them as opposed to those over 20 who are doing something active and constructive with their spare time?!

*makes lots of hateful comments and accusations toward Matrix*

I'm 17 BTW, so my anger has nothing to do with feeling sensitive about my age in relation to AMVs.

Guys, wasn't Kevin somewhere in his 40's when he stopped? I plan to keep making vids, and right now I'm only 11, so you can't pity me. Like jbone said, as you get older, you mature and your sense of design and style develops.

Uhh, say WHAT? Have you actually MET Kevin? I saw him at AX99. If he's 40, he sure could have fooled me. I would say mid to late 20's.

There's nothing wrong with people 20 years or older making AMVs. Tell that to Brad DeMoss, Tim Park, or Vlad Pohnert, or myself and you might find yourself eating your words.

People over 20 years old making DBZ videos, on the other hand... now THAT is sad. This is in addition to the fact that making a DBZ video is pathetic, regardless of age.

About the DBZ thing, tell that to Scott Melzer who is over 30. He did the award winning video "This is Your Life" to DBZ and the video is really good! Gotta watch that word eating thing

No real replies from the man of the hour, except for this PM he sent me:

"Actually dumbass, i pay for my site so back off!"

Whoo! HE PAYS FOR HIS OWN DRAGONBALL FANSITE! PROBABLY WITH HIS WEEKLY ALLOWANCE! Better step down and back off, peeps. We got a mature guy here! Can't even post back into his own shitty thread!

Heh, ignore the fool. Considering that close to 90% of his posts are DBZ related, and his only exposure to the world of anime seems to involve Dragonball x and shitty vids made by 13 year olds, I think we can write his sorry ass off.

Shoo fly, don't bother us no more!

Matrix, you're being retarded. People here do NOT spend all their time making AMV's as you seem to think. Don't you have anything better to do then work on your shitty site? Do you have any friends other than SSJ2? Stop being so damn offensive to other people's lives.
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.

I think NPC said it well enough for me...and yes..I do have a family. Making AMV's is a way for me to show my love of anime and music...much the same way writing fanfics are a way to show that love as well..both things help me learn new things..AMV's=editing skills..using programs like Premire and such..Fanfics=developing my writing skills. I really think you need to step back a few paces and look at what your saying. Just because you get older doesn't mean you have to become an anal retentive senior citizen...I don't see many people here that have said "Job? Screw the job! I've got an AMV to get finished..they can repo the house!"
So as far as having better things to do with my time and having a life..yes..I take care of things at home...do things with my son..and in my spare time...I make AMV's and such. I'd say that's a fairly well rounded schedule, wouldn't you?

Yes, we do have lives. As I type this, I'm currently at Kinkos on my laptop trying to prepare a speech for my college class. It's because of our lives that we don't make MORE music videos.

Of course, if you're rather disamused by the fact that some of us -do- sacrafice personal lives to bring you pleasure in the form of a 4 minute music video and continue to feel the need to voice your disrespect for such, then don't bother coming to this message board again - in fact, don't even bother coming to another AMV website, panel, or competition ever again. Just sliver your super-saiyan butt out and don't darken our door again. Don't let the doorknob fuck you in the ass on the way out. Have a nice day.

Sorry to everyone else for my abrupt rudeness. It's 7:00am, I've just pulled an all nighter at Kinkos and probably won't be leaving for another couple hours, and I haven't had my spicy stewed donut yet.

Don't you have a life? I seem to remember young people generally assuming older people weren't supposed to have lives. Do I have better things to do with my time? Yes, sometimes. But I at least think making AMVs is a hell of a lot better than just sitting, brain-dead in front of the TV or playing video games into the wee hours of the morning life far too many people (at least in the US) tend to do. AMV making (at least when done right) is, as ladydx pointed out so well, a creative exercise. Yes, I do have a family- like a number of the other creators here I'm married. As such, I don't play around on the computer nearly as much as I used to. And when we have kids, that time will dimish even more- but I seriously doubt I'll stop altogether. My wife encourages my AMV creating- she does take every opportunity to rib me about editing 10 seconds of fog frame-by-frame, but is happy I have something I really enjoy doing. As for making videos being a 'lifetime thing'- I happen to consider making AMVs an art form, and true mastery of any art form can well be a lifelong journey.

As for seeing things differently by being older? Yes, I tend to think we do- we don't generally jump to the conclusion that someone's age should have any bearing on much other than whether they can drink legally in the US or drive.
