Sony Vegas. How To Take Out 'Maintain Aspect Ratio'?

Postby Dizmo » Sat Jul 18, 2009 2:17 pm

My properties is hdv 720-30p template and the rest is default. When I render, I use WMV 9 and render using the template 6mbps HD 720-30p video. So everything is at the 1280-720 size.

However, when I upload the video or whatever, I always get a very thin bar at the top or bottom of screen. The only way to get rid of it that I recently found was to right click on the clip and go to properties and go to Video Event tab uncheck maintain aspect ratio. That's when my video completely fills up the screen.

How do I do that to all of the clips in my video since so far it only seems to let me do it one at a time per each video clip segment? I would very much like my video to fill the whole screen when I upload it.

You're going to have to uncheck 'mantain aspect ratio' for every single video segment, if that's what you mean by it only letting you do it one at a time.
Removing the black bars is pretty simple. In the rendering window there is a box that says 'Stretch video to fill output frame size (do not letterbox). Check that box.
That should do it.

Did that, the bar remains other than to take out maintain aspect ratio for each single video.

You could render lossless in SV then crop off the unnecessary borders in VirtualDubMod and compress.

Actually all you have to do is select all the video segments at once and right click one of them while all selected. Then remove the "maintain aspect ratio". It should remove it for all the segments.

It means your source has a bad AR (it's either not 16:9 or 16:9 done wrong) and you should fix it before actually editing anything... :/
