I would hope so. It set the other AMVs up to look good.

OK kids, just heard back from the HMFIC (look it up) so I'm ready to announce the contest finalists. I will only list studio names. If you want to say which AMV you entered, by all means go for it, but please don't "blow it" for anyone else if you know what they sent in!

If the results look...interesting...it's because I took Scintilla's advice and ran everything blind this year, which lead to some pleasantly surprising results. I see people that I don't know making the finals list, and creators that I'm familiar with, not doing so. I didn't realize just how much a name can carry an entry until this year, and I can't imagine going back to a non-blind pre-screening format after seeing this year's results.

This list is in whatever random order SQL spit the list out, so look carefully for your name.

So what's the difference between not making the cut and being disqualified? Those that didn't make the cut will get badges for them and 2 friends that will allow them to skip lines before AMV events and sit in the cool-kid seats. Those who were disqualified do not get this privilege. To get your badges, hang around an AMV event while everyone else is queuing up and let someone who looks like they're in charge know that you'd like to pick up your AMV creator badge from Vic. Spec Ops will have a list of qualifying names and if you're on it, waltz on in, grab your badge, and go enjoy the rest of the con knowing that we're holding seats for you :) The badges are good all weekend. Info Desk/Registration will have no idea what you're talking about if you ask them for one, so don't bother.

The schedule is NEVER final, but right now here's what it looks like in reference to the cool events, AKA: AMVs:
Friday 11AM - 2PM - Video 1 - AMV Overflow 1
Friday 5PM - 7:30PM - Video 1 - AMV Contest
Saturday 9AM - NOON - Video 1 - AMV Overflow 2
Saturday 3PM - 5:30PM - Video 1 - AMV Contest
Saturday 7PM - 10PM - Panel 3 - Iron Editor
Sunday 12:30PM - 3PM - Video 1 - AMV Contest Encore (No voting)

Here's hoping for a good contest, people!

Speaking of hard work, I still have a lot ahead of me. Because it's so close to the con, I REALLY don't have the time to hand out pre-screening scores like I usually do. If I see you at the con, I can pull up the list and show you where your entry stood, but I do not need another 140 emails over the next 2 weeks ._.

Wow - Animerata must have just sucked or something......... didn't make the "Finalists", "Not Finalists" or even the "Disqualified Entries" either. I KNOW Anibad does - I made it that way.

Animerata DOES have some dubbed voices, but I made a version without that sequence for this. Submitted on 4-25-2009. I submitted 'AniBad' on 4-29-2009.

Maybe I just messed something up.

Oh well, back to clicking on Mahoro, Avcon awaits!

You were not one of the 6 submission forms that I received without videos. Meaning I never received a form from you, you never got a confirmation e-mail saying that your entry was received (because I had no info to go on), I never got a "stray entry" uploaded to my FTP server, I have no FTP username that is even remotely like yours, and my PO Box is empty. So I got no form from you, and no video, and when I post threads here and on the Otakon forums saying "All confirmation e-mails were sent" you didn't follow up. Basically what you're saying is that my web server, my database server, my FTP server, your e-mail server, and/or the US Postal Service all simultaneously failed, for you and you alone, as I had entries come in on both the 25th and 29th, just fine.

I think the easier explanation here is that you somehow sent your video to the wrong contest.

My entry didn't make it in this year, but congrats to everyone who did. ^_^ It's nice to see some new names on the list. :) Judging without knowing who created the AMV is really the best way and hearing that it might be a permanent change for the Otakon judging is great news.

This thread is where I have my info linked, so I messed something up bad.
