iMovie Trouble

Post by PhoenixTalon » Thu Jun 25, 2009 9:53 pm

I'm very new to making any kind of vids and I need a little help. I followed this guy's tutorial http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... orial.html and it was really helpful except when I imported into iMovie, I can't see my clips. They're all black--no visual whatsoever. Can someone tell me what I did wrong or help me to do it right?

A codec is how the file is compressed. XviD, DivX, H264 are all codecs. Containers are what the video is stored in. Avi, mov, mp4 are containers.

Oh, ok. I used DivX and mov like the tutorial said.

Old tutorial is ooooooold.

Are you using iMovie 08 or 06? I have to investigate further on 06, but on 08 many codecs are no go. I found that h264 at 100% quality in an mp4 container works just fine. Are you on an intel or PPC? Because you should no longer use that tutorial's methodology. It is not longer accurate. Rather, read the stickies at the top of this forum.

Give me an update if you run into trouble (or even if you don't). Actually, knowing if the process goes smoothly for you would be pretty valuable.
