AMVs for mac?

Post by Naru Narusegawa » Wed Jun 24, 2009 10:39 am

I just got a macbook and since basically all of the videos are WMV I can't play anything. I tried download windows media 9 for the mac and a program called flip4mac, but for some reason neither of them are working for me. Any help please?

Perian

MPlayer OSX Extended

Perian is for playing the videos in Quicktime; MPlayer OSX Extended is its own player.

Flip4Mac is very easy to install. QT should convert automaticvally.

Snow Leo has issues with MKV, but not with WMV using Flip4Mac.

I dunno, Flip4Mac always seemed finicky to me. It absolutely refused to work on my roommates Mac as well.

I'll also echo Qyot. I know Perian works well. I haven't personally used MPlayer, but I've heard good things about it.

VLC has been my Mac player of choice for a while. I also have Perian as a backup, but I've had performance issues with mplayer (my Mac is old, though, so that could be my problem rather than the program).

You're also running Tiger. On Leo I haven't seen any issues with flip4mac or Perian. Snow Leo is still RC software, so there are sone issues. VLC is good, MPlayer is better. The best if you can compile it yourself. I also know people who swear by Movist.

I also use Tiger and flip4mac works perfectly fine on my Macbook. Plus I am even able to edit wmv footage in Final Cut Express with flip4mac, so it is really worth a try ^^

Mac is pretty difficult to work with after using PC all your life.
I could totally understand because after getting my mac I was at a complete loss of how to edit and where.
There are some converters that can convert wmv's into something playable like avi or mpeg for the mac.
Just it's hard to find a program without water mark.
If I come across anything I'll make sure to post here.

Also, You can still use Adobe products to edit and FCP is okay once you get the gist of it.

^_^ Hope I helped a bit.
