Can I upload my own animated videos or audio edited ones?

Postby arashi33 » Sat May 30, 2009 5:15 pm

Hello ^_^

1-Ummm I read the rules on what videos are allowed to be uploaded
And I read something "...although we are lenient with anime-inspired original animated or drawn creations that the members have made.."
Does this mean I can draw, animate, then create a whole video and upload it?
And does it have to be a music video or can it be a story with dialogues too?

2-Can I upload music videos in which I mix the original clips from a song..for example Utada Hikaru's video clip scenes..with an anime or a game?
Let's say like mixing real people with anime!!

3-Can I upload funny videos?
I don't mean music videos...it's like adding funny voices & sounds.. what people call Randomness or parody !!!

Sorry for asking much but I don't want to break the rules
I uploaded a video
And it contained scenes from Madonna's original video clip + Princess Tutu anime
I didn't think of asking before uploading it and that it might not be appropriate to this site, and I'm still new to uploading videos :(
Hope I didn't break the rules

Regarding question 2..I forgot something and it is in red

If this kind of video is allowed, can the audio be in languages other than English?
Arabic, Japanese, Spanish ...etc

A1: It's need to be mostly REAL anime. Original animation is allowed but not the whole video, there's a certain percentage, I can't remember what the percentage is I think it was 70% or somewhere around there.

A2: Not sure what you mean so I'll refrain from answering.

A3: Yes, I have seen it, it has been done. But people prefer it if it's actually funny. The Afrikaans Accent Institute is one example.

Hakamichi isn't entirely correct...

1) It has to be a music video. As was said in the part that you quoted, [original animation] has to look like anime for it to be allowed here (see this vid for an example)

2) As long as it's 51% anime you can enter it into the catalog and upload it (I think the threshold is 51%, might want to wait for a mod or admin to verify this).

3) The main thing is that a video has to have a majority of anime as footage, there aren't really any restrictions on audio as far as I know (though if you use something really vulgar, that might get removed)

I was going by memory and I never payed attention to these rules since I've neevr considered using non-anime footage.

It does provide a few chuckles when someone attempts to help even when they do not know the answer themselves.

I actually went and downloaded your vid and watched about halfway through to get a sense of what you meant. You don't have to worry, that would definitely count as an AMV even with the music video footage inputted...you're not the first to have done this, many others have. TheDarkProdigy's Behind the wall is simply one of many examples. I have also done the same twice but those are not on this site. But here are the links just to show more examples: Bokutachi no Shinigami and It Always Rains on June 17th(Woot for self pimping! >_>). You can even use footage you've filmed yourself, for example, Koopiskeva's Twilight, Megamom's Good Boys Never Win(which incidentally is a Princess Tutu AMV also), and CracktheSky's d!gital me. The usage of 3D footage you've created and original animation are also allowed, as long as everything is strictly in the sense of an AMV. Yes, parodies are allowed, the audio does not necessarily have to be music. I do recall an editor, Rubix, i believe that uploaded his AMV Comedian videos with the audio being from various comedians. And I believe Kariudo is correct, it has to be roughly 51% anime or the original animation has to be in an anime style but it is always good to double check with the mods to make sure. Anyways, I hope that was helpful cause it took quite a while to track down and link those...not to mention double checking your video...which incidentally, I wanted to point out that those borders were a tad bit distracting, I felt they were unnecessary. Intro might have been a bit too long also...but that's just me...

Hn...
apologies for the triple post but I also wanted to point out that yes audio in other languages are allowed, music can be any language you wish, and if it were a parody video with the audio track in a foreign language, I highly suggest you input your own fan-made subs so as not to severely limit your audience.

You don't have to worry about breaking any rules involving audio, because there are no restrictions on audio at all. Even no audio is allowed.

Not really, if you feel it works without it. What about doing it in the style of the muted movies from the era of the start of the cinematography? Etc, etc. Music is usual, but nowadays, it's not completely necessary. From the point of Anime/Music (Videos) - silence can be taken as a kind of music, while non-anime animation can't be taken as anime animation.

1) sometimes not... if you use early anime (they are fairly proportional... and then there're early bishounen anime with really long and pointy noses... etc :>) But yeah, generally.

2) Coo'

3) Yep, that works fine. Always better to check, though, there's a lot of Korean stuff nowadays that looks fairly simmilar :>

The videos you sent me were great..specially the Princess Tutu one...it's amazing how that guy made it in a way that made himself dream of becoming an anime character ^^

About me video..yeah many people thought the borders were disturbing..even the person whom I dedicated the video thought so..I'll have to make simpler ones XD
The intro was long cause it was a dedication...but yeah..long intros aren't a good idea anyway

Thanks for answering me questions & thanks for the vids & the comment on my AMV ^_^

So in other words...I can just create animations in anime styles & can make them like..ummm..stories with dialogues...with sounds or captions..with or without music?

1- Hehehe I like how you defined the bishounen guys "with really long and pointy noses" ^^
I get it now..I shouldn't follow the American comic styles for example..the styke has to be somehow Japanese

3-And I can use Korean stuff as well? I think they do have animes & games too
