Good techno for anime compilations?

Postby RadicalEd0 » Fri Nov 29, 2002 7:04 pm

I have this project due for history class where we basically are supposed to act like renaissance artists and take crap from our world and put it out in any sort of art form. Obviously the best way to put out my major hobbies (anime and video) is by making a short amv. I'm thinking of going with a compilation sort of thing just to make a bunch of anime look cool. Are there any techno or otherwise songs that you guys reccomend for this sort of thing? I'm thinking of just cutting a piece out of Mei Fei Se Wu and using that (I'd wait for Mission Improbable but the deadline for that is 5 days after my project is due)

long question short:
Any reccomendations for a song that would be good for an anime compilation video?

Get "Ioncannon" by Micronaut. Should still be available from mp3.com.

Good, fast-moving piece, plenty to points dying for synch point use.

I used it for a Columbus Crew player's highlight reel. :D

Look for a version of "Beauty Of Silence" by Johan Gielen. The song has length, and is upbeat. Might be good for what you're seeking.

Any idea what series you'd be using? Because that would help determine the sort of techno you need.

If you want an upbeat techno songs then try a few of these:

Beautiful day- paul oakenfold
69 police- david holmes
Ordinary world- aurora
natural blues- moby (excellent artistic piece)
we are all made of stars- moby
fly away- missing heart
castles in the sky- ian van dahl
possession (remix)- delerium
dream - forest for the trees
days go by- dirty vegas
sandstorm- darude
better off alone- alice dj

non-techno/electronic/dance
(songs I highly recommend listening to just in case)

here's to the night- eve 6
mysterious ways- U2
where the streets have no names- U2
hard to explain- the strokes
sorrow- bad religion (my choice)
sweet surrender- sarah mclaughlin
just another day- oingo boingo
summertime- Kikujiro OST by joe hisashi

Otherwise, it's all up to you.

They're not a very popular band, but I think that the music of Stars As Eyes is perfect for what you're trying to do. The first time I heard the song "Golden Experience", it made me think of 3 words: Anime Music Video. It's sort of electronic, sort of rock, plus its an instrumental, so you can do almost anything with it (not to mention you won't have to edit out curse words for school, which is a big pain to have to mess with and a distraction for anyone watching it).

You can probably find this song on Kazaa, Soulseek or whatever p2p program you use, but that would take too long. Here's a link to a page where you can download it, free of charge. There's a chance that the website might ask you for some info before you download it, but I think you can just stick whatever name/email adress you want in there and it won't matter. Plus there's a lot of new music on there that's absolutely free. Epitonic.com is probably the best place to learn about new and cool music.

But I'm not here to talk about the site. I urge you to download that track and just sit back and let your imagination go wild. It's neat.

Let us know what song you choose. Link your final project on a-m-v.org when you're done?

Oops. Forgot the link:

http://www.epitonic.com/artists/starsaseyes.html

Now I see a pop-up message on epitonic's site that says many of their downloads are temporarily unavailable. That might be the case with this track, so the link I gave you might just be useless. Anyway, try searching for it on Soulseek (the best file-swapping program out there), Kazaa, or whatever file-swapping program you use. Good luck.

Some of my favorites:

Lightforce - Join me

Paul Oakenfold - Southern Sun

U96 - Heaven

Scooter - Nessaja

All files are short (1.5 min. average) samples. I suggest downloading the full tracks over kazaa or something.

Kurohata said Ordinary World would be good, and I agree. The only place I've heard that song is DDR Max, and it's always fun to dance to. In fact, a lot of songs on Max would be great for a techno vid; they're all mostly upbeat techno tracks. This site has all the mixes, songs, and artists. I don't want to seem like I'm copying ErMaC, but he did get me into the Space Brothers. They have some really amazing songs. My personal fav is Forgiven (I Feel Your Love). I've been trying to come up with ideas for a vid for that one, but I haven't yet. As always, ATB is still the king of trance in my eyes, so you could try some of his stuff too.

I just wanted to say thanks a lot to you guys for all the suggestions, I'm checking out a bunch of them right now and trying to decide whether to go with a cool laid-back mix sort of thing using something like Ordinary Day or going with the generic techno mix. I'm also still considering drawing a picture of a bloody moon I once saw in a dream as a last resort if I run out of time ;P but its not due till the 8th so I'm hoping I'll be able to make the time. I'll try anyway :/

I was just thinking, isn't there a techno remix for 'Big in Japan'? That would fit the theme quite well.

I found 3 versions of Ordinary World, the DuranDuran version, the Aurora version, and the Fenix TX version.
The fenix TX version has got to be the best (although the aurora version was good). Its not the techno compilation thing I had in mind to start with, but it is much cooler
