Thanks for the replies. I'm feeling ten times better now. Sleep will do that to ya.

So yeah, I'm scrapping this thing. It's just not funny. Static-X to Lucky Star? What the hell was I thinking? And the jokes are so esoteric, you'd need to be really into millions of amv's alone just to get the references. Plus there's a bad joke where the Lucky Star OP is synched to scenes from Jackie Chan's My Lucky Stars. And there are two, no three scenes that involve insulting the video itself with more poorly done word balloons.

Still, it was fun photoshopping an image of Bonta-kun pointing a gun at a Vietnamese prisoner. I'm at work now, so I'll post the image later.

So much for my tenth video this year. Oh well, there's always next year. Maybe I'll revise my first video finally, or make a second Ready, Steady, GIT-R-DONE; lord knows I've been putting both off a long while.

Hopefully, I'll still be able to hang out this year. Looking forward to it again. A little reluctant, but what are you gonna do?

Hey, I'm 28 and I'm like that. And I'm female. Shouldn't I be off having kids rather than making AMVS?! lol

I'm glad that you seemed to be feeling better in your last post, especially since I'm a huge fan---I love your "Floyd's Nightmare" vid! :D

Good luck to everyone who submitted this year. And thanks to Vic for organizing this madness and doing the l33t seats!

@PP: Yeah, I'd say plenty us have our drama, so don't worry about. I rant in my head often enough :P . One day I feel one way about it all, then the next day I'm fine. Makes me wonder if this stuff makes me a little bi-polar, but then I hear my friends rant about the same thing so I don't feel as bad. It was cool meeting up with you and the gang that Thursday last year. Speaking of which, someone should organize another get-together for this year.

I don't know how to mask, I don't know how to de-interlace properly, I don't even know how to make my own website. I feel like a big phony. And I don't even bother learning any of this the right way; instead, I just find my way around it with photoshop and chroma keys.

Good to see I'm not the only one. Being pro is for losers! (Hmmm...I should study up on your AMVs to steal your 'de-interlacing' methods.)

Aww, damn. It's good to know I have lots to look forward to when I hit my twenties.
At the moment, all I have is teenage angst. Whoot~!

Feel better. D:

So, question: When disallowing studio logos, do you include in that definition any logo that was used commercially to promote the anime (e.g. as might have been displayed during the opening credits)?

The hard drive with my Otakon video on it (not to mention every non-backed-up master copy of the last 4-5 videos i've done) died... Looks like this is going to be a last minute submission if I can get the data off of it.

Well, at least this endeavor wasn't a total loss. I got to actually try out Adobe Photoshop instead of Microsoft Image Composer (I miss you, composer; curse you Vista and Microsoft), so I've got that advanced experience in mind (I just realized right-clicking some of the symbols gives you more options!). I haven't gotten a thing out of Premiere though (thank you Elements) but I'll get the hang of it; still got Pinnacle though with all those other extras.

I said it before, though, you learn more from your failures than from your success,' as my fourth unmentionable vid solidly proves (there's a reason I won't post that); just use this to my advantage and move on. I've thought of doing a School Days vid for awhile now.

As for the get-together, I'm willing to pull something up, make a separate topic for that. I'll have to see about it though.

That was a slight fear mine. And silly me decided to get a Circuit City warranty >_>. Thankfully it was okay, but I already want another one since it hurts to delete all of that footage that it took forever to get. I may suck it up though since I don't think I will need it again anytime soon.

Cool beans  I could as well if there's an issue at all.

I'll say more than I probably should in the interest of clearing up this issue with logos.

My problem isn't the logos, it's Corporate America. The major film and music studios are notorious for sending goons to cons with the explicit interest of ruining everyone else's good time, seeing as it's easier to make money through frivolous lawsuits than it is to put out a good product that people want to buy. Japan on the other hand embraces the parody culture. Ever read a doujin? There are cons dedicated solely towards that specific art of parody. That being said, nobody's ever got in trouble YET for using an anime's logo that can't be traced back to a US release. If the Japanese and the US logos look the same, then there's no telling where it was from, and for now, The Corps let it slide. Use something that is clearly copyright of a film studio though, and your trailer just became some lawyer's payday.

On the same token, this is why I am super anal about the no-english-dubbing rule. The Japanese VAs usually could care less, but every con I've worked at has had issues with American VAs. So, in the interest of keeping up industry relations, it's best to let the Wookie win.

Fair use is always an irritating thing to work around, but thanks for letting me know! (Thankfully, the anime in question hasn't even been licensed in the States, so the anime's logo from the OP should be in the clear(?)) Will probably try to upload it tonight.

Why do I imagine the RE5 Public Assembly scene if one of these goons is found?

Question...

This is the situation. Last year I submitted a video (which didn't make finals). About two months later I realized some scenes were of questionable visual quality and replaced them with different anime. In other words, the three FLCL scenes were replaced by Pokemon, Azumanga Daioh, and Gravitation.

Now...even though half the scenes and the song are unchanged but improvements were made which raise the overall quality of the video, would I be eligible to enter it into this year's contest?
