Re: AMV Salad 3: we NEED commercials, trailers, PSAs,...

Less than two weeks left until post-production.

I'm hoping for a flood of last-minute submissions, no matter what they are.

This year's Salad is gonna be shorter in length than last year but this theme wasn't an easy one.

Anyway, I'll let y'all know more details as they develop.

And TwilightChrono...I'm looking at you and wondering if any epic is coming from your direction... :P

Ah hell, I forgot about this. Ummmmmm, it's finals week for me, but I'm done Wednesday. I'll try to get at least one or two more things to you, but I'm going down to San Diego on the 15th, so that may or may not happen. Hmmmmmm....I can probably find time on Tuesday night after I finish my paper...

Here's hoping I can get something into you.

STATUS UPDATE:
I am sending out some belated clip analysis to a few of you after viewing the clips. I had to take the long way around using a media player and uploaded them all privately to YT. I'm the only one who can see them.

The hard drive will be replaced within a week; no more than two.

If my calculations are correct, we may be able to squeeze out 15 minutes total (including start and end sequences). That is unless anyone has a last-minute entry or few?

Anyway, this was a tough theme. Next time around should be much easier. The "romance gone horribly wrong" was a tentative idea, though. If anyone else has a suggestion that can be made into something funny, speak now.

That's all, I guess...

Well how would you feel about a good and proper music based one? Like, thirty to 45 seconds of songs that each editor picks, and makes a short vid about, like with the chorus or something. Almost like MTV on speed. And LSD.

You mean nothing but songs? Well, the mention of MTV does give me another idea. Perhaps we all do TV themes and turn it into the AMV Salad network season preview. Call it AMVS4: TV Dinner.

Or take the MTV idea more literally and find the top 50 songs from 2008. I'll create a mix and make all 50 tracks available (except #1 would be something truly annoying, like the latest YMTND meme for the time)...AMVS4: Pop'n Fresh.

...or am I off the mark?

BY THE WAY,...
how many of you owe me production tags yet? I'll put up a final list next week of the editors who have clips in this Salad and tell you which still needs to send me one. If you still don't know what a production tag is, refer to the top entry of page 1...

Eh, you're close enough, I was thinking just going back to basics and having editors due clips to parts of the editors favorite song, but yours works a bit better. In fact, I like AMVS4: TV Dinner a lot. That would work really really well, but we'd have to find commercials for shows again.

Not exactly. The theme songs are all over the internet, ready for download. The idea would be to use either the whole song (if it's a short one like Scrubs or Beavis & Butthead) or the most recognizable part of it if long-ish (like Cheers or Gilligan's Island). It's a workable plan and more details would need attention, but that's the general idea.

AND I NEED TO KNOW...
Which of you gave me a commercial which started out as a narrative: "I guess what I'm trying to say is...in German." Azumanga Daioh clips follow where the girl is chasing the fly with a rolled-up newspaper and then you hear the unmistakable music of Heino.

I mislabeled the clip to my files and can't remember who sent it to me...

Ah so you mean old TV shows then? Sweet, I call Sliders. And Star Trek (Original for fun).

Me, but I thought you didnt like it very much?
-I'm not entirely happy about it myself..- It's the commercial of Günther (MTV) btw.

I really like the tv theme's, because I've got a shitload of them :P
Although I also liked the love gone wrong..

Annnyway, I had a commercial which was pretty funny and got halfway making it, but adobe premiere is not good enough to lip sync, and Azumanga has to few mouth positions. So I scrapped that and I've started work on a Rock Band-commercial. I think I can manage that before the deadline.

Good to hear you're working on comments to the video's, because I'm dying to hear if I need to rebuild the Hyakko - movie intro in CS4, without glitches. Ah you've sent pm's, ok. Ill start rebuilding.

I really hope you can get a new hard drive, because you've been having that problem for months now :P

I've just sent in my final submission, a commercial this time.

I'll start working on remaking the movie intro one..

I hope there are some more submissions from users here, because a lot of users said they were going to send in clips, but they didn't, according to the start post. :(

Argh! I have two more entries but I just moved and don't have internet set up at home yet! I'm only able to post this cuz I found a wi-fi hotspot to post this from my I Pod. Deuce, any chance I would be able to submit mine late?

Argh! Looks like I'm not going to get to submit for this one :( I've only just gotten done with college for the summer... wouldn't be able to get a clip in unless it was by the end of this week. If you could wait and see what I come up with in the span of a week, I'll send in what I make. If not, well I'll make the clips and hold onto them until AMV Salad 4. :)

I'm so sorry I didn't get around to doing stuff sooner, college has been a real priority. But now that I'm out for the summer, I can work on whatever I want!

You should go for it, I have several clips complete I need to re-render after he critiques them and apparently deuce is having Hard drive issues that will probably delay the cutoff date at least a little considering he hasn't been getting back to me very quickly. According to the first post he has until early June, so for now, I would go forward since this thing needs more rather than less clips. I could be wrong, but worse comes to worse you stash whatever you make until next year. I've been trying to get ahold of him for a while and his HD issues seem to restrict his communications as well for now.

Re: AMV Salad 3: CLOSED for post-production (read for details)

Postby Deuce Loosely » Mon May 18, 2009 11:27 pm

I have set a slight deadline extension for late submissions. This is it, kids. After 12:01am this Saturday morning, no more submissions will be accepted for AMVS3. If you want me to save something for AMVS4 (theme TBA), I'll take it.

Please look to the top of page 1 for further details.

Now the work begins...
