AH'M WOLVERINE!

Postby Kitsuner » Sun May 03, 2009 4:56 pm

What? I'm starting a movie discussion thread?

I saw the new X-Men movie last night and it was pretty awesome. The whole immortal thing was kind of weird, but there was enough Deadpool to keep me happy. I just hope he gets his own movie eventually.

To anyone who's actually read the comic, what's Agent Zero's power? Is he just a super shooter man or something?

You realize it's more like a fanboy movie than related in any way to the actual stories of these characters?

The fact that I want to see it simply because Deadpool is in it leads you to believe I care about the story?

He has the ability to travel from The Matrix into other worlds and still retain the super shooting skill that are required from someone in The Matrix.

I havent read the comic or know the original story

I liked it. I know that people who were fans of the original series didnt like it, but o well :P. I love reading the reviews on rotten tomatoes. ZOMG THE CLICHES!!! I seriously didnt care and probably wouldn't have noticed them if I hadnt read the reviews before I went. Read for yourself: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/wolverine/

I enjoyed it, but not too much. It definitely was full of cliches, but I was expecting just a mindless action flick and got just that. Not amazing, but not terrible. Also I'm inherently going to like it since I read comics :P.

Well my *guess* is that it was the first version of him (i.e. Maverick) and his ability was Precognition or the ability to see the immediate future. That would fit in with his ability to shoot perfectly since he already knows where people will be, etc.

He later became Agent Zero though and I believe his ability was to absorb Kinetic Energy or something. That power I have no way of tying to the movie and his shooting ability :P.

I thought it was awful. However, I had a great time, because myself and my friends were laughing through the entire thing.

He's cool in the beginning . . . and then when he shows up next, it's a giant WTF? They also tried to explain his name, which made me facepalm.

Adamantium claws ain't a mutant power. As shown in the film, and the comics, that was given to him. So the doctor/consultant guy should have only offered healing. And then the guys should have opted for the claws like most fanboys.

I think I'd better stop here because I'm not a fanboy enough to warrant debating the finer points of Marvel mutant-dom.

Pretty funny though. And I'll watch this either on Blu-ray or at the dollar theater. Gotta save up for Trek... :P

I enjoyed the movie for what it was, but I will point out that Deadpool did get his name from the Weapon X mutant/person holding area (of course it was a bet on who died next as opposed to the actual thing being called the Deadpool). I definitely want to see more of the Merc w/ a Mouth. I actually own every one of the Deadpool comics that actually have his name, but I need to go get his original appearance at some point. Anyway, I like the movie and will shut my Marvel fanboy up now ;)
