How do I remove stationary object and not affect other video

Post by Rhyzel » Tue Apr 14, 2009 6:25 pm

Hi,

I have a general effect question. I am trying to eliminate the white text on the bottom left corner of the screen. I figured that I could just add a black box or something and it would effectively remove it. The two pictures displays how the scene progresses until it fades out. The text remains stationary while the rest of the scene progresses without touching any part of the text. If anyone knows of a guide to help me with this effect, it would help me greatly.

Thanks :-)

EDIT: Having trouble getting the photos uploaded. I will add them later. If anyone can help me without scene pictures, just let me know.

Hey Aaron. Thanks for the Pale Cocoon reference. I am 42% done with the D/L right now. I just got the two photos up. I don't know if cropping would do the trick. I am still incredibly new to video editing and I don't know much about the software. After seeing the pictures, do you think cropping might be able to remove the white text without affecting the rest of the scene? I also want to add another scene to fade into this one, so I'm not sure if cropping would mess that effect up.

Oh, something more like that... Yeah, cropping would zoom into much and probably effect it. Like you said yourself, the best way is probably just to put a black solid over the characters and keep moving it. If you're having a scene fade in, just start the fade of the solid as you start the fade of the scene. That should work out pretty good.

I don't really use Premiere anymore, but what I would think you would have to do is put a new solid layer of black on top of the layer of the scene. Since I don't think Premiere has masking, you're going to have to use a cookie cutter (don't know what it's called in Premiere) like effect, and make it so that the characters aren't showing anymore. Then just keyframe the effect to keep the characters hidden.
