Anime & Manga in unexpected places

Postby Kariudo » Sun Mar 22, 2009 5:47 pm

so as I'm riding the train back to school I start reading CPU magazine and I come across this (in lieu of a scan of the article, it's the link from the article)
it made my day

If I had time, I think I'd buy it (too bad I don't have time :()
You guys think this is a good way to learn such things?

post other instances of anime showing up somewhere unexpected

The local library has Shounen Jump and Naruto manga in the kids' section.

It took me a moment to figure out why it didn't make any sense. Then I realized it was written from left-to-right and not the other way around. It threw me off there for a bit. >_>;

I...guess that could be an effective teaching tool for somebody, though. At the very least, it's more entertaining than a text book. o_O

Yeah, I tried reading it like a normal manga at first

I found a Last Exile wall scroll in a Value Village, I also saw a Haruhiism wall scroll in the background on a tylenol commercial.

I remember years ago ib the show Everwood the teenage boy (Ephram?) wore a P-CHAN shirt from Ranma 1/2 and I was like "omg... that is an anime shirt worn by a character on prime time TV..." That was completely unexpected.

Anywhere at all in my hometown.

I live too far off the beaten track of anime products. The bookstores and video locations have it, but it's clear they never understand what it is.

And thus, being a person that has an interest in anything anime is always seen as 'peculiar' to the majority of the town's population.
Anime, one of the few things about the internet that doesn't make me hate the internet.

The horror movie “Mirrors” or “Into The Mirror” (2008) depending on where it was released has several scenes of the most random display of anime posters in the little son’s room. The kids like 6-8 year’s old and I thought, “Wow, he’s already into Haruhi and Full Moon o Sagashite.
"Paper or Plastic?" I just say, "Doesn't matter to me. I am bi-sacksual."

I was interested to see an anime/manga painting of Harry, Ron and Hermione on two large windows of the bookstore, 'Indigo' on the midnight selling of Harry Potter: The Deathly Hallows. ^^;;

And that makes me think of the scene in episode one of Skip Beat with the Harry Potter poster in the music store Kyoko crashes into >_>
