Japan Expo International AMV Contest 2009

Here we go!!! Once again, Japan Expo and AMV France organize the Japan Expo International AMV Contest for the biggest European Japanim Convention (more than 135 000 visitors last year) that will take place at the beginning of July 2009. So hang on to your timelines once again, it's going to be tough!

The contest is divided into two categories: the international ranking and the local ranking (French videos only).

The public prize, which was a big success during the lasts editions, will once again enable the Japan Expo visitors to choose their favourite AMV: Two whole hours worth of AMV on a giant screen to be judged by popular vote.

All relevant information can be found here:
Japan Expo International AMV Contest 2009

Practical information:

Constraints: The Music Videos must have been created from music and anime (Japanese cartoons) sources. Use of pornographic or extremely violent scenes will disqualify your video. Such decision is final.

Deadline: The contest ends on June 1st, 2009 at 11:59pm. The videos must have been uploaded by this date.

Rules: We invite you to read CAREFULLY the contest rules Image Image Image

Upload: Your video MUST be uploaded during the inscription process. Your video must be uploaded ONLY through the upload page accessible on the contest web page. CD or DVD sent by postal mail will NOT be considered.

Advices: In order to get as much consideration as possible, please find some advices:

- Avoid at all costs long intros and outros.
- Remove any sub-titles and logos (the DivX logo is a common mistake)
- Use acceptable length: between 1"30 and 6"00 maximum (without intro / outro)
- Prefer an exclusive AMV, never seen before

For any question about the contest, please contact us on Japan Expo dedicated forum (No registration required).

Gah, Lucca Comics only got 130'000 people last year... we'll see how this year will go! :nose:

Anyways... if I'll be able to make something decent in time, I'll send it in.
Also, about the rules: the technical requirements only talk about the codecs... any preferred resolution/framerate (maybe 576p25 considering the projector is prolly PAL)? Or are those completely free?

No preferred resolution/framerate, send what you want.
The different projectors will be connected to a computer via VGA, so we do not have any problem of resolution/framerate since it will be taken care by the computer.

Nice! Though, I think you should set at least a minimum res/fps... what if you get a 320x240@12fps video? Ok, maybe you'll just dump it anyway, but still... <.<"
